Nothing new here. The UWE is back on rumour was circulating in February of this year. I posted about it in a home match thread at the time. You're right mate, the uwe rumour has been circling for a while, as others have said they've heard it too..... But my sausage roll eating source on the west terrace was not credible in my opinion

August 11 at 0629 hours on Wael post You could have quoted what I actually said. " Hopefully all will be revealed by Wael before today's match." He didn't, but he gave an almighty big hint. If only people listened carefully to what Wael actually said.

Ok, here we go ....... saturday a sports journalist of some standing told me he had been hearing the family are selling their share to a consortium possibly of Chinese origin who would build the UWE and Training ground and Wael would keep a 10% share. Now this might be wide of the mark but for me it pretty much aligns itself with the comments on the interview and why he pulled out of the vets game. I would be interested if one of the Ciders or perhaps Knowall could dismiss this completely ? I would be perfectly happy for this to happen. It's what I wanted to happen when the Al Q's took over, finance for a new stadium, training ground, player purchase and playing budget. Its now quite obvious the family haven't got the money to do it themselves, and I want to see the club being successful in a new stadium before I shuffle off this mortal coil. Im fed up with being good old ragtag Rovers, bouncing along in League 1. To do better we need proper finance, we're not going to get it from the Al Q family. They have bitten off more than they can chew.

They have bitten off more than they can chew. Exactly. And there would be no shame in this at all. I am grateful Wael and family came in when they did and saved the club and he has been President of the club in one of its most successful period albeit returning us to league 1 and stabilizing the club. The off season improvements are very good, the bar , the shop, the pitch and of course backroom staff from day 1 have been in the clubs best interest. But for Rovers to have any potential it is so obvious a new ground is exactly what we need and training ground to go with it. It is a shame that Wael alone doesn't appear to be able to do this. Plus i am getting sick of us being beaten by clubs that struggle to get 2k on Saturday.

I’m getting a sense of deja vu....
If this is all kosher and we get bought out by the Chinese version of the AlQadis who’s to say we won’t be in the same boat in 3 years time.
After all the AlQadis were supposed to be building us a stadium with no conditions for building.

I guess that will be the final nail in the coffin of the "club" we knew if that happens. We end up being just the plaything of a real estate tycoon who probably hardly knows where Bristol is. The price of "progress" I guess. I must admit listening to some of the ranting and raving that goes on on this forum by the fans who moan about 'plastic' clubs, and Lansdown's millions failing to get Premiersh!t football down BS3, and then moaning that we haven't got an owner that er throws millions around like Lansdown...... I sometimes wish we could get a billionaire owner that rips the soul out of the club so they could see what its like. Suppose its no longer a club for us supporters of 50 years who are glad of the improvements having been through some pretty dire years. As you say Oldie the price of progress.... The soul has already been ripped out, we are just another identikit football club trying to position itself as a slick corporate entity whilst pricing it's core support out. The only thing that still harks back to when Rovers had a soul is that we aren't very good at it.

So are the ciders the rebel alliance? ...and our owners The Sand People? Ooh err, bit close to the bone that one 😶 haha. Originally I had a whole cast ensembled but I couldn’t bring to cast Hani as the evil emperor and Wael as Anakin/dart advert when Steve Lansdown and Matty Taylor were available.
