I thought when Tom Nichols came on Saturday he linked well with Stefan Payne. Maybe all he needed was to play alongside a solid centre forward, I am hoping this season will be the turning point and his career will take off.

Harrison wasn't a solid centre forward?

Harrison wasn't a solid centre forward? Exactly. I didn't see much from Nichols when he came on on he'll probably have his work cut out getting game time with the new arrivals. I would have looked to move him on this summer, but am willing to give him until January to see if he can up his game, if not...then move him on during that window if possible.

Nichols didn't do too badly when he came on, but if we are going two up front, I'd rather see Reilly or Jakubiak given a chance. I don't want to be too harsh on the lad, but Nichols had plenty of game time last season with only one goal in a competitive match and doesn't look any more likely this season.
Both Reilly and Jakubiak scored at a decent rate last season.
It helped Ellis to go out on loan to Hartlepool and find his mojo, maybe it would do the same for Tom Nichols.

I think Tom did alright when he came on to be fair.
I still think he could do with being a bit stronger and not going to ground so easily, but with the ball he did look quite good.

If Tom Nichols was only half as good at playing football as he is at styling his hair he would be a galactico. Only my opinion but I would love it if he proves me wrong, so come on Tom lets be avin you!

He did not do that bad when he came on Can see him doing a job just behind the front two Or instead of Bennet, who for all his skill is not strong enough Whereas Nichols has the skill and just that bit stronger May even score??

I think the problem may be that he has never played as part of front two which I understand to be his preferred position.I could see him doing ok partnering Payne up front after all he scored 14 goals in his final season at Peterborough the same as Payne did last season at Shrewsbury

Tom Nichols is a talent, the lad has ability and for his size, he puts himself about and does a shift.
What he needs is a strike partner who punches holes in a back line, takes out more than one defender and opened gaps to exploit.
Is Payne that player? We will find out.
Remember what Roberts did for Cureton.

He's not a natural striker. Maybe we could convert him into a left back.

Luke James 2.0.
Can’t see him turning it around, hope he does but doesn’t look hopeful

Can’t see him turning it around, hope he does but doesn’t look hopeful At least Luke James worked hard and made chances for himself and other players, Tom Nichols shows flashes of being a decent player when on the ball but doesn’t work nearly as hard as Luke James did and flatters to deceive in front of goal. I’ve seen plenty of him now and I don’t think he has what it takes to cut it in league one

For me it should be Payne and Reilly they both have goals in them and are very opposite in style which is perfect.
