With the current situation unfolding, I must admit that my criticism of him may be wide of the mark, just seemed he was bluffing us, however having seen Waels interview think now he may have been the sacrificial lamb wheeled out to bat off the questions. so sorry Steve I may have got it wrong, and you might be as frustrated as us. Remember him saying the family under estimated the costs in running a football club. I blame the false dawns we have had in the past. what do others think?

Perplexed and despairing at the whole situation.

What exactly is his role?
I don't want to be mean to him, and I definitely do think he's had a hard time from many on here and elsewhere, but he seems to be a bit of a sideshow at the moment.
He was wheeled out to face the press and did the best he could with the duff information the owners gave him, but he is at best quiet now, and at worst irrelevant to the grand plan (version 4.1).

Yeah, I have been very critical of him in the past but I'm becoming more certain that he has been thrown under the bus more than once.

The really sad thing is that I bet he is paid way more handsomely than you and I for being the board's stooge. So I won't lose any sleep over it, although I do in principle agree that this is probably not how he envisaged things when the Al Qadi's took over.

I actually think he’s given a press release to give to the public and he reads it.... thinks it’s sh**, and then try’s to manage our expectations accordingly. Stitched up good and proper. .

He makes some silly comments, like the Crazy Gang one but when he arrived his reputation from his time at Swansea meant some fans had already made theirs minds up about him. I was stunned when the UWE collapsed and he didn’t know anything about it. Not a chairman in the traditional sense and I’m not sure where he fits into the structure at Rovers. I’m not sure who makes the decisions there anymore and where you would go for a straight answer. No wonder DC gets frustrated.

And the grass is too long for a cricket field; though, it could be the edge of Rovers soon to be, well, quite soon to be, well, eventually to be training ground. Apart from that, nice picture.

Yeah, I have been very critical of him in the past but I'm becoming more certain that he has been thrown under the bus more than once. I think he was probably as excited and genuinely upbeat about the takeover as Wael was at the time but like Wael now feels embarrassed and let down.

Just before UWE collapsed I asked Steve Hamer what plan b is and would we be staying at the Mem , he replied that the club would definitely be staying at the Mem and looking to improve it's amenities. Since then Steve Hamer has said that the owners budget for the new training ground only covers a third of the cost. I can remember not long after Wael and family took over the club 20 man asked Wael over the radio if DC asked for a million pounds to buy a player would you give him the money. Wael hesitated for a moment and said yes. I tend to ignore anything Wael says now and if I really want to find out what is going on at the club I ask Steve H or Tom G, when I get any useful info I do put it on this forum and most of it has been correct so far. Ask yourselves if we can't find the money to pay for more than a third of the training ground how are the new owners going to be able to pay for a new stadium. I am grateful for the family as they have ring fenced our debts and stopped us from going under and there has been some improvements to the stadium and youth system/ academy.

Definitely SH has had a hard time, i genuinely believe he thought that Wael and Family would deliver the big projects, but they haven't.
He has had to be the face of bad news and situations it would seem he doesnt really have a say in. Like i've said before he doesnt make the decision, he is just on the pay role to be the public figure as Wael can t always be present if at all (anymore).

Perhaps he has, but he was also the broker/introducer for the deal for the takeover. So he would or should know how they operate.
He has also said things in the past when he perhaps shouldn’t. His overall handling of some events have been poor, especially his PR.
