3-0 to the current side. We’ve progressed a lot since then despite having a poor start to this season. Absolutely. A lot of knee jerking going on at the moment. For the last couple of seasons people have been complaining that the "conference squad" wasn't good enough. Now, because of a poor few games, they're better than the current one? Get a grip people.

Still early days and let’s hope we see a big improvement in the coming weeks, but on what we have seen so far how many of this team are League 1 standard? Bonham Leadbitter Craig Lockyer Martin Matthews Upson Clarke Rodman Nicholls Payne Every one of them. Early days as you say. 😂wake up

Every one of them. Early days as you say. 😂wake up I am awake. Every player there has proved they can play in this league, the only exception being Matthews who has hardly played there yet. From what I have seen of him, be looks a decent prospect. We're out of form for sure. But that doesn't mean the players are not good enough. It means they're out of form.

My point is that he is the only one who has no track record at this level yet. I see no reason why he can't play it though.

I do believe that the signings dc made and the players he decided to retain after our relegation were inspired and carried us all the way to the edge of the league one play-offs. Everything hes done since then hasnt been quite on that level. This is the first season where most of the team are not from the conference promotion side and dont we know it so far.

We are find of the conference side because of what they done..and some of the players have moved on up the ladder.
The current 11 I want to get behind, they need to get their heads up and play with some confidence and at speed. If DC can get them moving the ball at speed on the surface, not many teams at level will be able to cope. The football right screams of lack of confidence.
But the players need to help themselves, show some bottle and win the fans over. The beard not the best technical football but you can't deny the man's heart and willingness to be involved from the start, and the fans respect that and why he is liked by so many.
Also like our fans to be a bit noiser and positive. It seems these days, irene gets sung mainly when we concede a goal. Hoping for better atmosphere next week.

The conference team were crap at first, remember fans getting on the team coach? But they had a spirit and a will to do well, the present players don't look as though they are too bothered.

Unfortunately you can count the number of successful signings (excluding midfielders) made by D.C. in 4 years on one hand, abysmal unfortunately and concerning going forward.

Let's be honest, we grinded our way out of that conference. The style of football was never for the purests..on a technical level we've made huge strides but with a new group they don't seem to have that fight or togetherness... Yet.
In answer to the OP, a draw.

Think it’s sad that we had much better strikers in the conference... and a better left back lol

Much harder than it should be to decide who would win but, using head over heart, I'd hope it would be the current team.
The Conference side had an amazing team spirit and it was testament to the recruitment and coaching that so many of those players continued to progress with us after the 2 promotions. The guarantee of new contracts based on success played a big part and the players had a massive incentive to do well.
With most of those players now gone, the same rebuilding is needed if we are to ever get to the Championship - players brought in who could progress with us at a higher level. It would cost money, but is cheaper than trying to do it once we get there. Unfortunately I can't see it happening any time soon.

Why not include midfield players? What use is a midfield when you sign defenders that can't defend and strikers that can't score?
