The Gordon Bennett I knew would say that someone should stand before the Thatchers end with a megaphone leading the singing when it all goes quiet over there. Any idea where he is now? I went to school with him at Chipping Sodbury Grammar. Train spotting was the great passion among us then. Then he popped up at Rovers. Believe he went to Norwich, then Plymouth. Then where? Still working now apparently. Top man en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_Bennett_(football)Must be due a visit to the Mem, sure he would get a great reception from us mature gashesds

GB won the Daily Mail National fan of the year I recall and somehow ended up as chairman at Norwich if i'm not mistaken. Most on here won't have heard of him. At the opposite end of the spectrum,My 4 year old Grandson had his first day at school to-day in Nantwich. Will he ever see us in a proper stadium I wonder as at 72,I've given up.

Only knew him from the Eastville South Enclosure days when in the mid sixties he began business studies . I think he set his mind on working for Bristol Rovers and became qualified to achieve just that. His enthusiasm for supporting the team was infectious and a large group of young fans gathered around him as he led the singing. Quite ironic really as the directors sitting in the overlooking box used to complain about the noise. I would like to know where he is nowadays. I would say he deserves legendary status.

I knew GB from his time running the Rovers 'A' team that used to play in the old Glos County League, when it was a good standard. I can't remember the year, but probably mid 70's? I made my debut aged 15 against Forest Green Rovers. If my memory is right, Peter Aitken was also in the team. I missed a sitter in the first half. A free header from about 6yds which I put straight at the keeper. At half-time, GB just said to me, "you had the chance there to be a hero, and you blew it". I was devastated! We lost the game 1-0. He used to run the team, drive the minibus and even clean the kit. Top, top man.

Blimey, these days that sort of finishing will earn you a 2-3 year contract at Rovers!
