Thought he had a good game and being a natural left back we looked more balanced at the back, but what happens next week with the return of Lockyear and J Martin? i would be very disappointed if he was dropped back to the bench, Matthews played well and somehow we have to try and get a more settled side, i feel M Kelly should be given a run in the team DC should tell him to go out and make the position his. UTG.

Yes I agree, Kelly did ok. Overhit some of his passes into the front players but seemed comfortable and as you say we looked balanced with him and Bennett there and they linked well to cause problems esp in first half. So I hope he doesn’t get dropped. UTG!

He was a definite positive. Positioning was good throughout. Distribution not great but still learning. Would rather have him starting and developing, than a journeyman loan player.

He did ok defensively but going forward his crossing and general distribution was poor. Definite potential there though and I wouldn't be upset if he retained his place.
That said, despite James Clarke doing well today, I don't understand calls for Lockyer to be on the bench next week. I'd play James at right back.
Bonham J Clarke, Lockyer, Craig, Kelly/Martin. Matthews, Lines, Clarke, Bennett. Reilly, Payne.

New keeper seemed decent as well. Definate improvement over Smith.
No doubt he will be re-called to the team next week!

Kelly looked tidy and deserves another go next week.

Kelly has done well in what has been a very dodgy defence. When Lockyer is back I'd go LB.Kelly.CB.J Clarke. Lockyer RB Leadbetter.
Craig is slow and getter slower, thought James Clarke showed some steel today and much more a Rovers man than Craig. Im not sure the left sided CB being left footed really matters if it looks like it's been tied together to your right foot.

Kelly deserves to keep his place as a full back his first job is to defend & in that respect he didn't put a foot wrong.

Will Martin be back next week though? Lines was out for 3 games when he got his red card.
Agree that Kelly did well today, better in defence than offence but that's the main thing. Would be happy for him to get the nod over Martin anyway.
So pleased to have a decent goalie once again. Made some decent saves and had command of his area knowing when to come out. Saw him barking orders at his defence at time too which was good to see.

He did well today and will improve with more experience. Why drop him ? He didn’t really do anything wrong today and he’s our player coming through so why drop him for a loanee ? Same with the keeper , We kept a clean sheet Keep him in Clarke alongside Craig don’t think we’ve had that until today ? It worked Keep them in Lockyer hasn’t done well lately we kept a clean sheet without him Leave him out Brought lines back in alongside Olly 442 Keep it going.
Back to basics Unbeaten in two and signs of improvement. I’d keep it the same other than I’d drop Payne and play Jakubiak with Reilly next game . Tell em to keep it on the floor We’ve got some good players there and we’ll be ok 👍

First clean sheet of the season I say build on that show the squad that no one is undroppable even our captain because at the moment there seems to be a bit of complacency about the squad, and if that’s the case then they need shaking up. We’ve seen it before where locks comes back from international duty plays crap makes mistakes it costs us the game. I couldn’t give a toss if Lockyer is an international or if Rodman nearly won promotion to the championship last season or upson has played in the championship, you pick the players who are performing. I’d start Reilly and Jak up front with Mathews and Bennet out wide lines and Clarke in the middle and leave the back five as it is for the next game. Basically unchanged except for Payne who was poor today so let’s try someone else see if they’re better .

Rollin was brought in and done very well. I saw Craig/Clarke combo as really good blend in defence, but you can put your mortgage on Locks back pending injury..

Agree that Kelly did well. Crossing was poor but so was everybody s yesterday! At least with Kelly and Martin we have two proper left footed left backs.
I would also move J.Clarke to right back. He played well there in the Accrington game and put in a great cross for Payne's goal. Something that know one else playing full back has even come close to doing this season. That said, didn't he play RB at QPR and he had a nightmare there?

UTG. I thought the same...Kelly had a good solid game and seemed to relish in it...but we all know playing very well and getting man of the match gets you in the team with dc which is ridiculous... To me dc has got away with it in the past because he’s had a team of over achievers that are happy to be part of the squad but it seems to be catching up with him as no one looks settled anymore...

However, it wasn't a man of the match performance by any means.
