Its strange how posters including the OP take no account of loss of form and confidence when posting on here. Yesterday i saw a team trying very hard to get a result and find a bit of confidence. A goal mouth scramble late on saw our players throwing themselves in front of the ball to prevent plymouth scoring. Nobody knows if were in for a long struggle or not but its clear that the players are trying hard to put things right. Its also obvious to any fair minded person that confidence is low right now.
Ps.. the op says dc was negative but yesterday we played 4-4-2 with only ollie clarke out of the front 6 arguably being a defensive player! Also but full backs got forward as much as possible.

Spot on that’s how I saw it. The best formation for the players we have. Everyone trying hard except Payne or at least it looked like it. Dunno why that is he was our hardest working player first couple of games. Players in their best positions. Against Southend they looked lost out of position and watered off and confused . Saturday they looked happy to be where they were and giving it there all we just need to keep things simple keep the faith and we’ll be fine.

The keeper coming for high balls and commanding his area.
Progress.
Commitment to defending our clean sheet.
Progress.
No players out of position.
Progress.
Ollie Clarkes return to form.
Progress.
A more ambitious team selection.
Progress.
Reilly working hard to create chances and at least trouble the opposition.
Progress.
Yes, there were negatives in the game. Leads was poor, Lines wasnt at his best and Nichols got game time again but there are far more positives for me there than I've seen in a while.

And although we’ve lost too many games this season they’ve all been by one goal and we haven’t been outplayed even By the top two Pompey and Peterborough. Fine lines in football but I think we can all see that we’re slowley improving and we’ve got the players for another mid table finish If and when they can click. I’m still worried but much less so than I was going in to the Shrewsbury match. 3 points at Luton and we’ll all be feeling much more positive . UTG

Progress really? A home draw against the bottom of the League. If that is progress then I think our expectations have definitely been lowered. Perhaps Paul Buckle was right all along. I guess progress is somewhat relative. But I consider progress within the context of the season. We’re, for the first time in quite a while, looking difficult to score against. Yet if you want to compare yesterday to the entire history of Bristol Rovers then yes, perhaps it was awful. In the past you’ve criticised DC for not getting draws in tight situations. Now his tactics are “negative.” I don’t see how yesterday’s starting line up could be considered negative. Lots of attacking players.

Exactly right last season we were conceding threes and fours on a regular basis it’s now just a question of finding the right combination up front it was always going to be a difficult season for us exacerbated by lack of investment from the owners

At the moment I’m finding things frustrating, I had some high hopes with the signings made, and our first win at Wycombe was great to see It’s always good to see a striker score on his debut.. watching the Portsmouth game I was impressed too, I know we didn’t secure the win but the winning goal was scored last minute and just looking at the stats we know Rovers put in a good performance 100% I started losing faith watching Smith, I agree with the lack of confidence it was concerning I’m really liking the look of Bonham but I am concerned, the play is there, but the crossing and just getting a shot on goal is seriously lacking But anyway, onwards and upwards I guess, it can only get better fingers crossed Hope DC can steer us out of this hole and onto a few wins

Yes, there were negatives... Nichols got game time again. Why is this necessary? It seems some people, and it’s always the same handful, are obsessed with Nichols and literally can’t post without a dig at him. It’s boring and embarrassing. It’s not just you but like I say, it’s the same handful of posters. He was nowhere near the worst player on that pitch yesterday.

Because his continued inclusion in the team could cost us our league 1 place. Smith has a handful of bad games and people want him out of the side, no one says a word. Leadbitter is out of form and people slate him.... nothing. Nichols literally does nothing for 50+ games and I'm embarrassing?? Do me a favour. So if Nichols wasn't the worse player on the pitch, who was? And why is ok for you to single out someone and not me? If my opinion was that Nichols was worse than Leads for example, am I not allowed to say so in a thread discussing the match?

Continuous 4/5/6 changes each game, players out of position, wasting the budget he’s got on one area of the team (midfield )when we all know what we need. so Hugo blame Nichols has much has you like but this all boils down to DC and his staff.

Yeah, I can't for the life of me understand why he keeps picking him. But the reality is that DC has 4 years of success to justify his odd decisions.
