Why do posters roll out the "teen-agers" nonsense to justify their arguments, when there's virtually none posting on the forum? As far as DC's budget last summer he was probably given at least a mid table budget if you include transfer fees of around £750K this summer probably a reasonable budget for a bottom third Div 1 side, not many near the bottom spent £150K on one player? I fear like Trollope DC's lost his way, with talk of players not wanting to play sounding just like Bright & Regan repeating itself. Where have you got the £750k this summer from? Sorry there should be a comma after the £750K, last summer DC bought Burn £50K, Parts £80K, Sercs £150K, Nichols £350K so it was actually £630K, £100K last January on Mensah and then another £150K/200K this summer on Payne, DC cn hardly say the owners haven't backed him. it would be interesting to know what other club outside the top 8 have spent in the last 2 seasons.

A couple of things sprung out to me on this thread. Yes we always start poorly. However this statistically might be out worst start in how many years? 10?
Also as for the goals not coming from anywhere I think that's true enough but I think that's been the case for 3 years and never addressed. We have had players capable of creating goals in Taylor, got lucky with Bodin and then even luckier with Ellis hitting form. We have created very little from midfield otherwise for ages we have just had individuals on form enough to hide it.

Expected this thread to be one talking about the rise-and-fall of Rovers in League One? Well you're wrong. It's one to say, shut up. To those who are calling for DC's head, calm down and be patient. The date is September, 16. At this stage in 2015/16 (League Two), we had lost 4 of our 7 opening games. This season we have lost 4 of our 7 opening games. At this stage in 2016/17 (League One), we had won 1 of our 6 opening games. This season we have won 1 of our 7 opening games. At this stage in 2017/18 (League One), we had lost 5 of our opening 8 games. This season we have lost 4 of our opening 7 games. At this stage in 2015/16 (League Two), we were in 15th place. We finished 3rd, and gained promotion. At this stage in 2016/17 (League One), we were in 19th place. We finished 10th. At this stage in 2017/18 (League One), we were in 15th place. We finished 13th. In all three seasons stated above, we always started to perform during November and rose up the table. November is less than two months away. Stay patient with DC. Darrell saved our club during a time where our owner did not significantly back him financially. He deserves our respect and patience. Instead of calling for him to be sacked, look at the bigger picture, and question the owners instead. Question their financial backing of him. Sure, his recruitment this summer was very poor, however, he is working within budget, whilst the board lose the club's best players. DC is not to blame. He has another four years left on his contract. The club would have to pay him a substantial compensation fee, therefore it is unwise to sack him with the club already losing money each year. I've seen some brilliant threads on this forum, one especially titled 'DC is a victim of his own success,' and that is spot on. Unfortunately, those who are calling for him to be sacked are teenagers who think they're entitled to make their opinion heard when the only stadium of our's that they've seen is the Mem. Sit down. There is one very significant difference this season and it is in previous seasons we knew we had goals in the team. This season we don't and I cannot see how it is going to change in November, it's not like we have a goal scorer that is injured and will be back by then is it. The recruitment was very poor and we lost some key personalities from the dressing room that drove the spirit of the squad. I don't blame DC one bit as he probably got the best he could with his budget (I know others will argue against that). We will be fighting relegation all the way to Christmas and only if we invest in some goal scorers (and a dominant center back and hope Tariq is the real deal and remains fit) can I see it changing. Sadly League Two beckons again I struggle with the criticism of the recruitment. .... on paper and prior to playing for us, most people would say upson, rodman, Payne, reilly, Nichols, etc etc would be good players to sign but because they haven't hit the ground running for us then the recruitment has been poor? I think judge when the players have been here for a while and been played in their favoured positions... We're struggling but like the OP I'm confident well be in a different more positive place in a month or 2

And when you think that Bodin, Taylor and Harrison were unquestionably worth over £1 million each, the first two arguably considerably more, then you can see what an impossible job DC has had to replace them. When we were in for the Walsall striker it became obvious that the owners were not going to back DC to adequately replace Ellis.

I think the current bottom 4 looks very strong. With the exception of Bradford I don't think us, Oxf, or Ply would expect promotion but if you ask people who their outside bet is us 3 would pop up a lot.
Bottom 4 will be completely different come May.

Don't go then? I have no crush on DC, I'm just saying he saved our club. Let's be honest, we were very close to liquidation in 2014! no true fan would discourage another from going. Do you want poor attendances? I suppose all credit was DC’s, not the clubs or players! He was part of it but no responsible for it all! As they say there is little you can influence once they cross that white line! Just wait until the check a trade cup starts next week and people get slagged off for going to watch DC and his team play... plenty come out the wood work then

So it's OK to waste a £1m because DC earnt it in the first place, I'm not really sure I see the logic in that argument TBH. DC's probably been backed more by Wael than any Rovers manager, particularly when you consider in Div 1 most players now usually move on frees rather than clubs paying transfer fees like we did in the past. Is really replacing Taylor, Bodin, Harrison & Gaffney with Nichols, Mensah & Payne for £600K+ a good move by DC?

We should be aiming to win this, not treat it with contempt. I don't agree with bringing in the premiership young uns, but I agree with aiming to go far in the competition as it's potentially worth £500k. We should be going for this and the FA Cup this year. I've always felt that the cups were an unwanted distraction for DC previously, however these could have a dramatic impact on his budget.
