Having a member of the club as an expert summariser is daft. Anything he says can be interpreted many ways by different people. RB would be better off having an ex player/manager or a independent journalist as co com.

Got no gripe with with S/H, but he should not be commentating on our matches, not the thing to do and he should realize he is putting himself in a difficult position, after all he sees it like we do, but where as we are free to show and speak of our opinions he is not free to do so, so pack it in Steve , RADIO Brizz should not be asking you!

I think he's quite a good co commentator. Whoever does it is bias towards rovers and if they weren't then people would complain about them. The best option would be ex players.

No great fan of Hamer though I thought he did ok with the Shrewsbury commentary, but how could anybody possibly not be critical of Saturday's performance on every level.

It makes no difference if he played & managed in the PL, he is paid as Chairman of Bristol Rovers Football Club. In my view, he should NOT be commenting on any Gas game on Radio let alone DC's tactics, live on Radio. Cheap shot in my view. If he has an issue with DC's performance he should be addressing him in private. I think Mr Hamer needs to look at what value he brings to the club. As a Chairman he sounds like he doesn't know anymore than anyone else what's going on at the club.

Very unprofessional from Hamer imo, in an era where we were supposed to be exactly the opposite.

I'll get my coat.

It does seem a bit odd that SH is commenting on the matches to me.
Wael: "We need a total media clampdown at the moment. That includes you, Steve".
Radio Bristol: "Fancy a bit of live unedited commentary on air, Steve?"
SH: "Feck it, I'm in".

Well at least you actually hear from him and he's not that bad but yes it infringes upon his job as chairman massively, so he definitely shouldn't be doing it! Thinking of him as chairman and all the others. - Sod knows what all these employed back room staff and experts are doing all week? Clearly not much! Only person that ever seems to try to doing anything is this new Tom Goringe chap! He's about the only one I see walking around the mem with the air of I am doing all I can and have nothing to hide. Damn we need a Q&A!

Damn we need a Q&A! I suppose it depends if we really are in negotiations with some third party or not. If none of it is true, and we are just slowly evolving into something or other, then I have no idea what the top staff actually do all day. If, on the other hand, there are late night discussions going on with investors in the corridors of power, then I imagine they are pretty busy. It makes me wonder why they were all appointed in the first place. A large number of senior managers deciding the price of sausage rolls and the right canvas for the new tents, or a negotiating team?

I thought he was a defender in what was then the equivalent of the National League, surely a decent enough standard. Haven't listened to one of his co-commentaries, so can't in all honesty give an opinion. Played as a pro in South Africa for a year too. Also managed Corinthian-Casuals. Im amazed match of the day havnt got him on board instead of lineker, shearer or wright with his background.

For those that haven't googled.... He was a central defender, starting out (1969) for Corinthian at 18, then moving to Tooting at 20, then Carshalton at 21 for a year, Followed by 2 years at Sutton before jetting over to South Africa for a short season, cut short for "personal reasons" he returned to play for Bromley before joining back up with Corinthian as player/joint manager, then a season with them as a player only. Knee injury then happened at age 27. 1981-1991 he was with Brian Moore on the LWT Big Match show Not the worst of CV's to be fair.....as an ex CD he must wonder with our current pairings....eh?

I have no problems with SH doing commentary, and he certainly does not undermine DC. So what if he says things like, "we can't string three passes together", or "Daryl will be livid with what he is seeing". He is only saying the same things as the rest of us ! At least he is being honest, so that makes him the only person at the senior management level who is !
