Is Wael the Jordanian version of Corbyn....all options are on the table, which basically means nothing. That whole interview was a complete car crash wasn't it. Reading it again just makes me want to cry.

Reading it again just makes me want to cry. basically What he couldn't say at the time is that they had found some investors that were willing to fund and build UWE in exchange for mem (That's what all the knowallinciders hints were all about). They got as far as agreeing everything with club but no announcement was to be made until all was agreed with UWE. Went back to UWE who said f**k off and the investors duly did so. Another missed opportunity but now there is nothing left in terms of a plan.

It cannot be denied that if Lansdown came up with the guff our board do we would all be laughing our tits off at them and how gullible they are.

I saw what happened to the last person who tried to organise a protest and got shouted down on here because people were worried it might affect those precious snowflakes on the pitch. I would be in favour of joining in with a protest but it is rendered kind of redundant if it doesn't have a decent backing. Two people holding placards in the car park yelling "Down with this sort of thing" isn't going to get very far. The phrase "you have get the club you deserve" could not apply more than to Bristol Rovers (and I guess I have to include myself in that even though I am in favour of a protest of some kind). The club's hierarchy has a small time mentality which meshes nicely with the small time mentality of the majority of the fanbase. Mind you, I've never known any different since I started supporting the club in 94 so I don't know why it feels extra painful now- the loss of the UWE I guess.

"you have get the club you deserve" Yeah, but that's such a bullshit statement, isn't it? Seems like some of the other weird magical thinking that goes on in football. Really, City fans are more deserving of success than us, really? How is that? Man City fans were all shits and deserved nothing for thirty years, and now they're all brilliant and deserve massive success, suddenly. Really? What were Aston Villa fans doing right that they suddenly stopped doing? What the f**k have Stockport been up to? It's just empty rhetorical bollox that sounds reasonable, kinda, maybe, until you stop and think about it for more than say, what, a split second.

My interpretation of what that phrase is trying to suggest is that if you sit back and are happy to accept mediocrity, then mediocrity becomes inevitable and you can't complain after the event because you sat and watched. To put it another way, I recall a group of blokes leaving a game once in the dark days under Graydon and as they left one of them turned to the fans who were still there and shouted out "you will clap this lot into the conference". He was very close in his observation, but not quite correct as the day of relegation to the conference is about the only time I can recall anything other than apathy when the fans have been mis-led or let down by un-ambitious owners. We kicked off after the match, got it out of our system and then that was that and we looked forward to life in the conference. There is absolutely no way our fans could ever launch a sustained campaign like Blackpool and Charlton fans. We are like GC in a way- happy to accept a tinpot stadium and no training ground so long as we have a football team to support. My view is that fans of a club that had the 6th best home attendance in league one should demand owners of a higher calibre. Our mob are only fit for Accrington. Even then I bet Accrington's fans wouldn't have them. In fact perhaps that is why the Al Qadi's chose Rovers in the end over Gillingham- they did their research and realised that Rovers fans have a proud history of celebrating mediocrity and decided that that fit nicely with their plans for their new club.

It's just empty rhetorical bollox that sounds reasonable, kinda, maybe, until you stop and think about it for more than say, what, a split second. In 2015 Stockport Council paid £2 million for Edgeley Park to save it from demolition for redevelopment and then leased the stadium back to Stockport County. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/edgeley-park-council-buy-ground-9521860A 5000 signature petition had been presented to the council urging them to do everything possible to ensure County remained at the ground. Would Rovers muster 5000 signatures in similar circumstances or is it more likely there would be a split in the fan base ? Some saying "No, the Al Qadi's own the ground and they should be allowed to do whatever they want with it even if it leaves us homeless" and others saying "No, the Mem is useless we want someone to provide us with a brand new state of the art stadium for free".
