No I'm wondering why two days have passed and no one on the forums has resurrected the thread or asked how the meeting with Steve Hamer went. Perhaps the response to the open letter has been discussed on facebook or twitter since Saturday ? You tell me. But you were talking about positive action by Stockport fans now you're talking about chatter in the echo-chamber of the forum, Facebook and Twitter. Which goes back to my original point that you and the chap who got the 1,000 signatures (of a semi-regular fanbase of ten times that and an extraordinary fanbase of 40 times that) need to know the difference. I guess that petition started somewhere similar, although Stockport sound as if they were close to becoming homeless which is somewhat different than our predicament, well for now at least. Although when that happened to us in the past BCC just sat back and watched us move to Bath! Blackpool & Charlton are shown as good examples of fans grouping together to protest in large numbers but what have they actually achieved both clubs still have the same owners, in fact Blackpool show just how hard it is to dislodge an owner, one who seems far worse than the ALQ's.

I was simply asking what had they done wrong to deserve their massive fall (ie nothing), I wasn't suggesting they weren't decent fans. And my comment about a split in the fanbase was tongue-in-cheek but there may be a grain of truth in it because the mindset of Gasheads is so hard to predict. I find it hard to understand how we could come up with a good positive open letter to the board, gain over 1000 signatures in support of it, arrange to meet the Chairman on Saturday to discuss it and then ....... Why has everyone chosen to forget about it so quickly ? Must admit i did forget, brain dead after watching that Saturday is my excuse. Did the meeting happen.

Absolutely, I guess the question is "does trying at least make you feel like you are doing something about it even if you don't succeed?" But yes, it is depressing how the Oyston's are digging in. Are they a special case though? It strikes me that those two are very ego driven and clinging on to Blackpool has become more about a battle of wills between the owners and fans. I don't think DS has that same level of negative emotional investment and Wael did talk of being here only as long as he was wanted. In terms of actual outcomes I would like to see some public indication from DS that they are willing to listen to offers from anyone who thinks they have the investment and intent to move the club forward. They may very well already but at least publicly Wael keeps reiterating that the family are committed and according to the OF Hamer has confirmed they aren't interested in any fan investment schemes either such as the model employed by Hearts. BRFC is their own personal fiefdom and it appears they want it to stay that way.

Not sure they are special cases, it seems wealthy, owners only normally sell up when it suites them, the Venkies at Blackburn, Mike Ashley at Newcastle are just another two examples. Although given the black & gold protest collapsed in the past when NH threaten to ban the organisers, I wouldn't hold much hope of organising a major protest at Rovers.

The Stockport petition was asking their council to safeguard Edgeley Park because of the benefits that stadium brought to the area as a community asset. The open letter to the board was asking Rovers leadership to improve communication because of the benefits that would bring to the fans, the club as a whole and not least to the owners. Both are positive aspirations and the chap, Tommy, who composed the open letter was sincere in what he did. It is usually a small number of people who bring about positive change and it is the semi-regular fan base and extraordinary fan base who turn up to watch a game of football.

I didn't say he wasn't genuine. I said both he and you should understand that gaining traction with people you aren't currently doesn't really happen by talking to the people who are already listening.

Quick update on the meeting with Steve Hamer I've posted on the open letter thread.
I'll release the audio of it as soon as I can edit it down. Hopefully next week.

So what? There are plenty of other threads available. This one is a cracker as far as I'm concerned.

Uh oh, this thread is back right in time for the transfer window to end.
Are we being bought out by the owner of Lego still?

A little bit worse for wear this morning but fine now, looking forward to Shrewsbury now and people abusing one of own players lol!
