Doesn't look promising with the sale of our three stars in recent windows.
Harrison can't now get a start at Ipswich. Couldn't even get brought on against ten men in a 0.0 home draw at home yesterday.
Bodin injured long term again.
The Snake unused sub again on Friday evening. His total minutes on the green stuff probably don't add up to half a dozen league games.
So, does it indicate the jump in standard to the Championship or did our manager get more from them than others can?

Probably a bit of both, but definitely a lot of the latter IMO.

Bodin is unfortunate. He has the most potential of the three in my eyes.
Harrison had a good season last year and I think needs to work really hard to establish himself in a championship team. Difficult as he can’t turn that sort of money and career move down but as a longer term career move would possibly have been better off sticking with a team like us and trying to push up to the championship together.
Similar deal for Taylor although much less sympathy for what he has done there. If he’d have stuck with us for 6 more months who knows where both us and him would be.

I don’t watch Championship football except on TV but I see a lot of the PL and League 1 and think that the bigger gap is probably between League 1 and the Championship now overall. Except I saw Cardiff a few weeks ago and they were awful. As it stands no way will they survive in the PL. I could have been in goal for Bournemouth that day and Cardiff would still never have scored. Of the teams that went from League 1 to the Championship Wigan and Blackburn will do ok but I would say that they were Championship clubs who had a bad season and found themselves relegated. They bought a few players and went straight back up so not a gap. But there usually is. If clubs have been run properly and don’t waste their money then clubs getting relegated from the PL will get promoted from the Championship back to the PL and do ok, likewise in League 1. Clubs in League 1 will struggle in the Championship because there are many “wannabees” in that league who are prepared to push the boat out to get into the PL. most League 1 clubs won’t be able to do that. And yes DC definitely got more out of MT, BB and EH because him and his staff worked harder individually with them than they will get in the Championship where they will be one more of a number and be way down the pecking order. In all three cases they set out to prove themselves with us and got plenty of playing time. And of course it was a lower standard than they have now so it was easier. But DC got far out of them. UTG!

The gap between league one and the championship is getting bigger every season. Ive heard that tammy abraham is on £40k a week at villa and that aidan flint doubled his £18k a week salary at bristol city when he went to middlesbro. Its too early to tell with harrison and ipswich as a team are struggling. City work mates seem to like matty taylor, quite a few were annoyed he was left out at wigan.

All three have undoubted talent and bodin is just unfortunate to have yet another long term injury. But , I still strongly believe that DC and MS got the very best from them. I was one that despised Ellis was anywhere near the team when we into the conference but his all round game and attitude changed after a full season with DC and MS at the helm, Taylor was a relatively unknown quantity and started very slowly and would miss absolute sitters but then went on to bang them in for us and the rest is history, no one was prepared to take a chance on billy due to his injury and rumoured bad attitude but what a gem he turned out to be. Dc and ms certainly got the best out of them , I think though , all three of them could of benefited from at least another season in league one before moving on.

I'm going to give DC credit getting the best out of these players.
Taylor would still be doing any ordinary job if it wasn't for him..
Bodin might not have done anything with all his injuries.
Harrison finally pulled his finger out. But was only for 1 season.

I think that there is a big gap between Lge 1 and the championship, look at Ipswich, rockbottom because they recruited from league 1 and 2. That team would win Legaue 1, as we may find out next season

Agree with you, it was a lansdown special, "it looks like the little dwarf (the fans words, amongst others, not mine) is going to take us down, and Taylor looks like he's going to take them past us, let's get him warming our bench, not playing for them" Underhand? Yes, classless? Most certainly. SL proves not matter how much money you've got you cant buy class, but you can buy your west country rivals striker. (Note: West Country not Bristol rivals, as we're not in Bristol hahahaha )

Although I think they were happy to get a bargain of a player at that rate too. What surprises me though is how long Taylor has managed to spend there despite all of this. I was expecting him to have moved on to pastures new in the Summer. Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the quarters at some point, despite the sour undertones of his move away.

Sour undertones, I’m not sure what you mean? I never wanna see that lady garden snake anywhere near the Mem again!! Unless he’s playing for another team then he would get dogs abuse or plastic snake abuse?

I think the only others we have sell on fees for are Matt Macey and Donavon Wilson.
I think Matt made a mistake going to Argyle (saved a pen yesterday, but they are very poor and practically no defence in front of him and a git of a manager).
Strange choice of club, as he apparently was excellent in the few European and cup games he played last season for Arsenal.
Donavon has a very good scoring ratio for his age for Wolves when has played, something like 4 in 10 but these are mostly in minor cup games incl JPT.
Who knows how they will progress?

I wonder if we have a loan first option on these players as part of the deals. I though Macey was fantastic for Argyle the other week, made some fantastic saves. Luckily we now have Bonham for a while, he is performing well. However it would have been good to have options.

I wonder how big a sell-on clause Peterborough negotiated when they sold us Nicholls?

I wonder how big a sell-on clause Peterborough negotiated when they sold us Nicholls? Now that would be great if they worked both ways - i.e. subtract what you get from what you paid, and the original seller pays the agreed fraction of the difference. I commend this to the house.

By the time Billy returns to fitnes, PNE will be in a proper scrap to retain Championship status
