The B.B.C. quiz has been advertised for some time, with Darrell Clarke taking part. It's also in aid of charity.

I don't like moaning and of course there are far more important things to worry about than this, but again isn't this is just a show of incompetence from the club. Having worked partially in Project Management and logistics before, I fail to see how hard it could be to schedule events for two different evenings in order to maximise attendance. Unless they intended it to turn out like this, but why would they?

Providing both get good turnouts, i don't see much of an issue.
Would recommend anyone who is interested in football index to head along to the event. They usually give out 10% or 20% deposit bonuses at these events and its genuinely quite an easy way to make money and then withdraw all or withdraw your original stake.

See one live, listen to the other on catch up.
Or are we going to moan on here when 2 programmes clash on TV as well?
Strikes me this forum is packed with people wanting to find things to complain about the club, no matter how trivial.
When did we stop being supporters?

One is an event involving people from Football, Rugby, Cricket etc, being organised by someone else, one is focused purely on Rovers. Do you moan when going to the cinema that there's more than one film showing at the same time? Even during pre-season there's 2 Rovers teams playing at the same time. Should everything just have the 'One' event going on at any given time?

Should everything just have the 'One' event going on at any given time? Pre-season is congested anyway so not a good comparison, and to use the Cinema is even less comparable. We're talking about 2 advertised events out of not very many in total, that are both on the same night. There are many other nights when nothing is scheduled, hence my point. But like I said, in fairness it's small fry compared to much bigger issues. Just seems a bit silly to me.

Even with the iPlayer, the BBC wouldn't put on two shows that aim at a similar audience at the same time. For example Dragons Den and the Apprentice or a politics programme on at the same time as the news.

But both advertised by the club in today's email and ours could really take place earlier in the week or even in a week or two time. It's odd timing to say the least although why our club captain is actively encouraging fans to gamble is beyond me, what a sad state of affairs our club is becoming.

I can't imagine capacity for either will go beyond 200. The quiz will also need to accommodate supporters of other local clubs. Both will probably max out.
Nothing to see here move on.

I would imagine it is part of the sponsorship deal that they get to hold an event to promote there product. They have probably asked for club for players/staff to encourage people to come. Alot easier to moan about the club though i suppose

2 events. quite different. not perfect timing but what's the big issue? BRFC is clearly aimed at Football Index players, and is driven (paid for in a way...) by FI. DC wouldn't be expected to be there so what's the big issue that he's down the road instead helping raise funds for charity? Look who is representing that amazingly caring family club... Gary Johnson - last connected to the club over 8 years ago maybe we could say well done to the club for having the manager and club captain both happy to be available in the evening, be ambassadors for the club, met fans, etc.

On reflection this is v. clever scheduling!!

Went along tonight and was very impressed by the whole event.
Tommy Widdrington came across very well and gave a fascinating insight into how he carries out his role. He is working for the club, not necessarily Darrell, and is looking at players for years down the line and not necessarily just today.
Revealed that 95% of the players in the club who were here at the start of the summer are out of contract in 2019. Looking at anybody who gets recommended to the club (he was claiming this as a guarantee).
Says that the memorial stadium is not a hindrance and that Rovers are a big club for this level and the challenge is more of a wage problem having to go up against the Sunderland’s and the Barnsley’s of the league.
Claims we have looked at 350 players or more since he has come in, 250 of which we’re still looking at and 10 or so who would be put in front of Darrell for January. Looking at next January window as well as it’s a long term game and the length of contracts needs to be considered. It’s not about statistics, it’s about seeing the players and considering how they will be in the future.
Tom Lockyer was more of the standard player type Q&A stuff. Had interesting things to say about his games in the Wales 1st team and that he finds it easier than at League One level due to the way the games play out.
Interesting comments were made in relation to the impact that social media has on some players. Some take it very hard and some players sometimes receive very personal messages into their social media accounts after games. The players need to rally round and support their teammates when this happens and that comments on poor performance are ok but when they step over the line into personal abuse it’s not on. Recalled some instances of players receiving said abuse over the last few seasons.
Thank you very much to all the organisers for a well run event.
