So a quarter of the way through the season and the table is taking shape.
Looking at our results - we are struggling again to pick up points against the top sides - would be nice to change that tomorrow !!
Team result opposition current position
Pompey 1-2 (H) 1st Posh 1- 2 (A) 2nd Accie 1- 2 (H) 5th Luton 0-1 (A) 10th Southend 0-1 (H) 11th Coventry 3-1 (H) 14th Rochdale 0- 0 (A) 15th Bradford 0- 0 (A) 19th Shrews 1- 1 (A) 20th Wycombe 2-1 (A) 21st Plymouth 0-0 (H) 24th Gas 18th v Walsall 7th Result .........

Just means we're at best a mid table team and at worst just outside a relagation spot. Interesting that we've only lost by the the odd goal everytime

Interesting that we've only lost by the the odd goal everytime I think the losing by the odd goal every defeat can be changed in to a massive target for us. If we can start to find the net more frequently then we’ll be picking 3 points up more often than not and rise up the table. Got to get our forwards scoring because since we’ve brought in the keeper we’re rarley conceding and we can have a good season I just hope it can happen .

Odd statistics so we have picked up nil points from 3 top teams In 3 games but 10 points from 8 lower teams over 8 games , So really we are not picking up much more than a point a game from the lower teams Relegation statistics

I`m sure we all agree with that. Nichols looks as if he could play until Horfield is awarded the Olympics, and still not score. The last couple of home matches, Payne has put as much effort in as one of those statues on Easter Island. Give Reilly and Jakubiak, a run out together.

I’d try sercombe as a number 10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Think we may just win today. We certainly need to rediscover that winning mentality at home - Coventry pretty much gifted us the win. I think we'll have to up our game from that one to turn over Walsall. Having Sercombe and Parts back might give us that extra quality we've been missing. Hoping Reilly starts - might be his kind of weather today - slippery surface.

The problem is the Manager and until he works out that he has now been found out by other teams we will struggle to win games. There is no point is continually changing when results aren't going well. The players need a bit of consistency in selection. Our forwards or forward on Tuesday had to waste his energy on chasing around with no back up whilst the defenders are surrounded by our players. It is hardly surprising we don't score many goals. We need to pressure the opponents in numbers going forward and stick with two players out wide and give the team five games to gel. Projects are not working Darrell- you need to try the methods used by managers of the top teams in our division and better preparation before the season starts might be useful too!

Just leaving so I won’t know team until they run out, no mobile!! Hope they give Jakubiak and Reilly a run and play Sercombe central midfield though playing him as a No 10 is a good shout. I’d love to see him and Lines working well it would be a match winning combination but tbh it doesn’t seem to work. Let’s hope for 3 points to make a miserable 5 hour round trip a bit happier for me. UTG!

I think I may be right in saying here, that since our return to the EFL and excluding this season, we have failed to beat any team (except on one occasion) home or away that finished the season in the top six - and that includes our two promotion seasons. Totally bizarre!! The team we beat btw was Rotherham home last season.

We created 5 chances at Rochdale most would have been happy with a 1-0 win.

I posted this in another thread when comparing us to this time last season, we were not much worse off this time last season. We were scoring a lot more goals than we are now but also conceding a lot more than we have done this season;
Before this season scoring goals was never a problem under DC.
We have had plenty of periods in the past few years where we have conceded too many but we were often able to outscore the opposition.
This time last season we had scored nearly twice as many goals in our first 11 games. Will be a lot more as our 12th game last season was the 6-0 at Northampton! We also conceded more than twice as many in our first 11 games last season than we have now. Our goal difference was -8 compared to -2 now.
