Pantsdown can't own us and those Teds.
2 clubs, same country- hell same City- not remotely possible.

THIS IS NOT A RUMOUR, I AM NOT IN THE KNOW! I just can't get it out of my mind we are ripe to be bought by Lansdown. He would get the Mem, worth a fortune with planning for houses. We would play at AG eventually so he would save 45 mill on a new stadium. He would persue his desire to own other sporting clubs under Bristol Sport. He has the infrastructure to do this in place already and a pitch for regular use. I wouldn't be surprised Wael maintaing an interest whoever or if any one takes us over Perhaps the media will see this and ask him. Are you having a laugh mate ? He couldn't own two EFL clubs for starters, and if he managed to pull that off via some front man then allowing us into Ashton Gate would be suicide for him, and a dangerous place to visit every other Saturday. He would be more likely to acquire us via a third party, shift us off "temporarily" to Cheltenham Swindon or Bath, sell the Mem and then leave us homeless. The value of the Mem must be pretty close to our debt by now anyway isn't it ?

I hope this isn't possible and the White Knight doesn't reappear.

What if he sacked silver spoon from his current job and chucked him £20m with the instruction to take us down though, would father and son be deemed iffy by the EFL ? I can't ever see Lansdown showing any interest in us incidentally, and was simply replying to the OP.

Yeah, I've linked to the league rules in an earlier post - the rule also applies to 'associates', which includes close relatives, and anyone that Lansdown has given or loaned money to.

I’d imagine that Lansdown has two plans regarding rovers:
1. That we become so far behind them as to not be a competitor for business. This, through his development of city, and our successive board’s innability to keep up, has already almost been achieved. Whereas we used to enjoy near parity on and off the pitch, we are now more akin to notts Forrest and County.
2. To create a Bristol United. Thereby removing any local competition from the Bristol Sports (football department) brand. (But then why bother if he achieves point 1). Thereby getting around rules of owning two football clubs.
Unless we have a benefactor that is willing to pump in millions like he has done , then we may need to get used to the current (or even larger) “gap” as the new norm. Ultimately, reaching for the premiership shouldn’t be seen as the end point of success in any case. I’d rather we were a well run, progressive community club in. The lower divisions, than a poorly run “boom and bust” play thing of someone.
The shame is that it looked like the current board wanted to deliver sustainable improvements . But that seems to have disappeared now. We will have to wait see what happens next.

He could buy us and merge the two clubs, but that would mean City would be in Div 1. I believe Maxwell was going to merge Oxford and Reading, a long time ago

I don’t think a family or consortium should be allowed to own 2 clubs in Europe . What if they were drawn against each other in European competition?. I mean if we ever qualified for the Europa league then we might draw the 82ers because like squeaky boy said they’ll be in it next seas... oh hang on.

Just my opinion but I threads that start with as much masculine bovine excrement as this one should be locked. The op should then receive a hundred thrashes with the cat o nine tails, followed by a bath of iodine.

I dreamt that the s*** were playing in Red & White quarters once or was that us playing in Red & White quarters? Either way I was in the spare room the following night. Dreamt? That sounds like a bloody nightmare to me.
