This is a very emotive subject. Please try to debate posts, not attack one another. If you believe someone is an idiot or troll they are best blocked and ignored. Cheers. HTE In fairness Hugo, ggmi is defending people being able to speak their minds, he can't now hide behind modding in my opinion. He also regularly calls other posters deluded, clueless, tosser etc.He is an idiot and is rightly by the majority being outted for his pathetic views, if he's allowed to attack a mans behaviour for reporting racist abuse he deserves every thing coming to him. I seriously wonder if his posts in the recent Ellis Harrison thread have any relevance now. G79 may have had a point. He epitomises everything wrong in our society, he is trying to make the victim feel guilty. And as a club if we want to eradicate these vile individuals, well we have no chance as long as idiots like ggmi continue their invalid, out of touch, pathetic views. People like him are the reason we'll still have this problem at future games. The irony is he will be the first to cry bully if he runs his normal course. WE MUST GET RID OF A MINORITY WHO ARE BRINGING OUR CLUB DOWN FURTHER BY THE MONTH. To be fair that is just be getting a bit carried away and sometimes a bit of banter. I would say you are on the verge of bullying on this forum though as is joebananas67.

Now, on Saturday against Dover, there were two idiots standing in the same place, hurling abuse, spitting at the opposing keeper for the whole of the second half. What did the stewards do, nothing and they were stood right next to them, so the club are doing nothing to stop this? A game on and it's now racism, how can our fans act in such a barbaric manner. I did see one led out, so I presume he was arrested and he should be banned, we don't need this at our club. We will eventually get some sort of punishment if things like this carry on at home and away, points deduction or a fine. Let's not beat around the bush here. There is a large proportion of little Englanders on every terrace in every club. The majority of them talk in hushed tones, amongst themselves and others who still have colonial beliefs and who are EDL members and turn up to rallies etc. this is not a Rovers priblem but is a football problem by and large. It is part of a wider problem that takes in a multitude of things other than race such as rekigion and an intolerance to cultures other than their own. We had a very large NF following at Eastville and that followed us to Twerton. I was subject to an attack because of my background by so called friends. It's an insidious and vicious problem that needs to be tackled head on with an absolute zero tolerance policy implemented, not just talked about. I sometimes feel ashamed to be a part of the same species. I cannot verbalise or properly articulate how strongly I feel about this. GGMI, you really need to check yourself pal. There is inappropriate and then there is ordure of the highest order. You really should hang your head in shame mate. Sheesh. Very sorry to hear that you were attacked. I have only followed the Gas since 2007, when I came down to the West Country (Taunton), but my football days go way back to the 70's. As many will know, back then it was commonplace for crowds to chant racist abuse in their thousands and to have far-right links, eg Combat 18, or some such name, at Chelsea. Since Hillsborough things are far, far better and it is significant that last night's thugs were just one/two individuals, not the whole Blackthorn End, as would have been the case with the Shed years ago. You are sadly right, of course, that there is always anasty little core of nationalists, racists etc. in every ground. I just feel uneasy when people start telling someone to "crawl back into your hole" etc. when they are not the actual abusers. There comes a point where we start becoming what we hate, if we're not careful.

You know what! When this thread started I was waiting for KP to come on and say it had happened to him. It seems that whatever happens at the Mem it has happened to him. Do you want us all to feel sorry for you KP?
You don't go anymore so don't worry. Being Welsh I've put up with it all my life ( remember Abervan) but I don't make it an objective in life to say hey guys look at me I've overcome this as well.
With regard to last night, if these people did what is suggested they must get a life ban. However, nobody has yet said they heard anything, and I find it hard to understand how the keeper heard it with the noise of the crowd. More relevant, how did he know who said it. Was he watching the crowd instead of the game?
I felt he wanted to be the centre of attention, instead of doing the correct thing which was to call over the ref let him tell security and let them and the police deal with it.
One last point, were there any police there?

Haven't read all of this long thread so this might have been said already, but this forum seems at odds with the Blackthorn who in large numbers sang non racial abusive songs towards him after he complained to the ref about one or two fans. This concerns me just as much as the behaviour of a couple of fans. If we are saying racial abusive is disgraceful, which of course it is, why did we abuse the person who had the courage to stand up to it. Absolute hypocrisy I think by our fans TBH.

I wasn't there last night, but on the radio the commentators made no mention of race and took the attitude that Brown was making a silly fuss about "routine" abuse. It may well be that the majority in the Blackthorn also had no idea what had been going on. But as I say, I wasn't there last night and those who were would know, perhaps.

One last point, were there any police there? I feel quite sad for you if that was what you were waiting for. It's something I have dealt with now and, as my username will tell you, I am proud to have my bloodline. Hey, I have lived a very full life, could tell you thing you would not believe but that's by the by. I feel strongly about it and, of course, cannot forget the night when I was attacked, as it stuck with me. You don't forget these things and I got every single one of them, one on one, walking home from pubs, outsude their workplaces and at their homes. Each of us has had varying life experiences. I am glad you have not had the same. It left me feeling very betrayed and conflicted for years. The duality is not an easy thing but it is what is. Going back to the post, I am vehemently against ANYTHING so prejudicial. Maybe you could make a list of topics you feel I would join in on and I'll do my best to satiate your urges.

Just a thought, before we string anyone up for this.............Everyone that was around the goal said the banter was good with the keeper for a lot of the game ? The guys name is Brown ? could this have been the same banter but miss heard ? Like "come on Browm you See you next tuesday get on with it"......... this could have been miss heard ? as "come on you b**** See you next tuesday get on with it" ? I am not saying this happened but it is possible ? I take the point you are making, but your now guessing. What we do know is something was shouted by two men (according to fans nearby it was racist) the GK sensibly pointed it out, at least one man tried to conceal himself, and one man was removed from the terrace. This is all going by eye witness reports. I think we can pretty much say Racial abuse took place in our stadium. The bigger issue is it still happens in our game of football we all love, and there is still obviously a way to go to eradicate it, we must kick it out.

One shouts something racist at a football match and it's all over the national news. Racism happens all over the place everyday and that rarely gets a mention but it happens at a football match and its front page news. That should be banned for life but I think the media coverage is attacking football slightly by the sounds of it and that's nothing new. You put 6000 people from anywhere in an area the size of a football pitch and you'll have racists rapists homophobes etc. This might have happened at a football match but its got nothing to do with football. The should be named and shamed locked up and dealt with a prison sentence but our club shouldn't be fined or reprimanded in any way for this in my opinion as it's not our clubs fault. What are we supposed to do interview everyone on the way in to the ground to try and fathom whether they're a racist and might say something ?! Racism is still a problem in this country but no more so in football than anywhere else from what I've seen and heard in my 37 years.

In fairness Hugo, ggmi is defending people being able to speak their minds, he can't now hide behind modding in my opinion. He also regularly calls other posters deluded, clueless, tosser etc.He is an idiot and is rightly by the majority being outted for his pathetic views, if he's allowed to attack a mans behaviour for reporting racist abuse he deserves every thing coming to him. I would say you are on the verge of bullying on this forum though as is joebananas67. Typical bullies response, it's only banter when YOU say what YOU want, anyone else it's bullying. You have dug a hole with your out-of-date replies in all this, which began with you saying Dartford's Goalkeeper made a "song and dance" about it. The fact is and yes FACT is, you are were wrong, he followed the rules and did not make a "song and dance" about it. From that moment on, you have been trying to justify being wrong. And frankly are not doing yourself any favours.
