...Barnet fans:
Last few games have been pretty damn uninspiring. Lets not kid ourselves, what team has stayed on top of the Conf for the whole season? I fear now we are dropping into a tasty fight for 1st place. We HAVE to improve, we HAVE to ride out this dull patch and come out the other side still riding high.
----
No team going for promotion should even consider starting Jon Nurse.
Luisma needs to start when fit.
Stephens is undroppable. Saville is unreliable.
----
What worries me is that we haven't played well against any of the top teams. I suppose the only one could be Forest Green but even they are way off the pace. Bristol Rovers were in a transitional period and are better now than when we met.
Basically we need to win the league as I think as usual we would flop in the play offs!
------
Nothing that shocking in those quotes, but when you see a team top of the league you assume all is rosy and they will run away with it. Hopefully we can keep the pace and give them something to worry about, they have some tough games coming up against those top teams the last poster fears.
Gateshead seem to have snuck up to 2nd place though...

This league is wide open, I think Gateshead will be top by Saturday night, but saying that I wouldn't write Barnet off yet.
Personally I just don't see it in us winning the league, but maybe that's just me knowing what Rovers are like!

Play offs for us , there's no way we're going to win the division.

Or Barnet to lose by a lot. Barnet are plus 23 Gateshead plus 9

I think that we will be right in the mix, as long as we can stay where we are for another 10 games, then hopefully strengthen for once in January then I see no reason why we couldn't push in and take the title.
BUT we really really do need to start scoring more goals, our defence is clearly good enough otherwise we wouldn't be where we are with such low scoring.

The ability to win ugly will get us out of this league. Based on current form, there's no reason it couldn't be as champions.

I understand where you are coming from but ISTM that we've been lucky with regards to the opposition not scoring. I'll keep taking ugly wins all season and into perpetuity but many want to see wins accompanied by free flowing football. Sometimes you just have to be happy to win.

I think there's little doubt that things have been going our way recently and that won't continue as luck does more or less even itself out. We need to find another gear to keep it going but that's not impossible. It's remarkable that we're a third of the way through the season, are lying 4th and our top scorer only has 3 goals! The defence is fairly solid. If we can start to be more incisive in the final 3rd we can do something this year.

The league is wide open and given attendences are keeping up then DC should, hopefully, have a bigger budget than the likes of Barnet & Gateshead come January.
Assuming our defence stays strong if we can find a goal scorer we could well finish in the mix, particularly as there seems no particularly strong team this season.

Well put it this way KP, we're now 15 games out of 46 in, a third of the way through plus one game. Our current form is 8 wins, 4 draws and 3 losses, or 28 points. If we continue this form in the next 31 games (assuming we win the odd one I mentioned) that ends the season on 87 points, well within the top end of the play-off spots if you take the average of the last couple of conference seasons. So that's good already but it also assumes that we don't improve at all in that time and considering confidence will surely build and hopefully we can bring in a striker that delivers in January, I'd say chances aren't bad at all. Sorry for the dry analysis, I'm a guy that prefers trends and stats over guts most of the time :3 You have to face the fact that we're in a league that most players with bags of quality want to avoid playing in until they're on their way out. So we will face scrappy games against part-time teams that will park the bus and occasionally undo us on a good/lucky counter. We will sink or swim based on how the players react to that.

Current form in terms of final number of points is not quite as good as you say. We have 20 points from 8 home games and 8 points from 7 away games. We play 23 home/away games which a continuation of current form home/away would lead to around 83-84 points. Still comfortably in usual playoff positions (81 is the most that has been needed) though.
