I don’t think we were defensively solid at alll. Wimbledon hit the post, had one off the line and JB made an absolutely point blank save all in the first half. None of these were half chances. Teams that are tight don’t give away 3 chances like that every game. Bonham has papered over the cracks. At the other end I wouldn’t lay all the blame on the strikers, we just don’t create enough on a regular basis. UTG Yes I agree with this. It's the formation and not utilising our midfield playmakers. It’s called bad management

Our strikers can’t score- and it’s not there fault?

Terrible vacuum at the club currently with poor performances, strikers seemingly unable to score and still no news on the The Colony,New stadium etc and the 'Confidentiality Clause so no comments' nonsense' only adds to the despair.Do hope the takeover rumours bear fruit as currently the club is floundering.

Without lines we have no midfield playmakers who can play a long accurate pass. It takes us three or four laboured passes across the pitch to get it out wide which by time they’ve got back and marked up everyone. Lines can do that in one pass.

Ha, fair shout. If we are not making enough chances then the mistakes through pressure, the luck, doesn't happen. The other team missing gilt edged chances is unearned luck.
No, according to a lot on here this is down to a good defensive all-round performance
It was a good defensive performance, albeit we offered very little going forward. Aside from the two saves Bonham made in the first 20 minutes, I can only remember Wimbledon missing one missed 'gilt edged'chance.

You have to factor in we were at home against a side just as bad as us for scoring goals. If your goalkeeper is your MOTM constantly then you aren't doing it right imo. The less your goalkeeper has to do, the better your defence.

Second half, they had the ball for long enough to score against a resolute defence. A more compete team usually find clean sheets easier to come by because theres less pressure. The notion that having a good keeper somehow illustrates a weakness is crazy.

The lack of development of the training ground is frustrating granted, but I'm getting tired of people peddling the narrative that matters off the field are responsible for our poor start to the season. It's highly unlikely any new owner would back DC on the field more than Wael and co.

I can see where you're coming from with this... with the games I've gone to so far this season, I can see drips and drabbles of great gameplay, amongst all the AWFUL play we've been handing out
For example, at the Portsmouth match imo we played very very well, lots of chances on goal, a lot of pressure, a bit of width, more so on the east side of the stadium, and I put the conceding of the second goal down to lack of concentration near the end of the game (and some sh** goal keeping from Smith, the kid doesn't know how to get back on his line). When I heard we had a new keeper in, I was ecstatic and I agree he has brought the defence together well, he's vocal and his vision is brilliant.
We do have the potential to be a decent side, not promotion worthy yet, but potential nonetheless.
Comparing the Walsall and Oxford game, they were both very different, I saw a better game from Rovers against Oxford (despite their w**ker of a team and fanbase), Walsall was a poor game for both sides, just wasn't any oomf or excitement at all. Oxford seemed more competitive for me, I just could not stand their no. 19 dunno about anyone else, he contested a challenge for like 20 minutes, god knows why the ref didn't just book him.
ANYWAY
Our defense and goal keeping is what's keeping us afloat as widely known, but our main problem (imo) has been width! They all scurry over into one corner leaving one single person on the opposite side trying to create space, and that's all well and good.. until they finally get the ball, that's when the opposition bombard them.. and we lose possession as there's no support on the wings it's all in one area, and that effects our attacking approaching, which leads our strikers to getting no service, no service = no goals (unless your Nichols and you just never score anyway)
Now in the Oxford game, the second half, the subs of a CM and ST for 2 wingers made one hell of a difference to our gameplay, I finally saw a glimpse of how we could be, imo, our main issues are width, trying to walk it in the net, constantly having it in the air and poor crossing. There is so determination and persistence shows in the team, but the linking up is just not as prominent, one of those reasons being the constant change of the starting 11.
I believe in DC but I think someone needs to have a word, give DC a lil clip round the ear, we need a new approach, I think we could turn this season around, I know people said we played poor against Wimbledon but a win is a win, a bit of morale boosting for the team never goes a miss or maybe it'll cushion the blow if Barnsley have our pants down on the weekend
Either way, onwards and upwards lads UTG

Whilst I agree to a point, how many attempts at a long accurate pass does it take him for one to come off? Just like the surging runs into the box he is known for, how often does he make them? He appears to be playing quite deep compared to his usual role. I think we are missing Sercombes runs from centre midfield more. That is just my observation.

Admire your optimism, I want to believe it. I went to Burton, they were awful but deserved to win. Last night Wimbledon were woeful but if they had won we could not have complained. We are sinking. Could be turned both ways though. At Burton of Jakubiak scored the one on one, we would have won. If Matthews free kick against Walsall sent in off the post we would have won. If they were 2 wins, instead of defeats, how different would things look. We could have beat Oxford, but could have lost in the first half. But on the other hand, we could have lost last night etc. Most games have been close and could have gone either way. So we could be higher, could be lower. We could go on a run with a bit more luck, like we got last night. Confidence is a big thing in football. Hopefully last night will give us a boost. Its all about "IFs" and you get nothing for them

We have to face facts, we are a very poor team. We are unbalanced, we have no physical presence, the recruitment has been woeful, and we have a big squad of mediocre players, and this was all put together by DC. no one else to blame, even he will admit it. the only saving grace is that we have a few good youngsters coming through, although that is nothing to do with him and I doubt if they will get any games.
the other thing is most of our squad have 1 or 2 years of contracts left. DC says he will change things, if they are not up to it then they will go, so how come Nicholls is still here? He talks tough, acts like a pussy cat
