Stumbled across this on Twitter earlier and thought it deserved to be posted on here. A long but brilliant read.

Blimey, that is a long read. Pretty damned accurate mind apart from Rovers historically yo-yo'ing between the 3rd and 4th divisions. We only hit the bottom division for the first time in 2000!!

IMO the rivalry is really overlooked because both teams are sh**e on the pitch.

Doesn't it only go back to 1982 in its current form. I didn't think the original BCFC still exsisted.

Yes, apart from that fairly accurate. Really sad that there is a generation of fans who don’t know what it’s like to do city over on a regular basis. 90s a good time!

A good read, thanks for posting. Agree the comment about 3rd and 4th divison is an inaccuracy, but if the author is younger than ~30 it's all they will know!

Wonder if the 82ers enjoyed it bet not, and it's a shame that the writer did not mention that we call them Sh1!heads , at least we can say we are proud to be gasheads

I really enjoyed reading that, thanks for posting. Would be interesting to hear what the 82ers have to say about it, but from my perspective it seems quite accurate. The reasons we Gasheads resent City are well outlined in the article in my opinion. Nice historical look on the rivalry as well.

Thanks for sharing this.
Really good and well balanced article that picks up on the perceived superiority of both sides over the other.
Interesting questiom at the end too, about the relative merits of having your community based club at 3pm every Saturday, as opposed to selling your soul for a ride in the Premier League.

Good read.
I liked the part about the Teds not being able to shake us off. Like an annoying wasp at their billionaire owner's picnic, we are always just in sight and threatening to spoil the party.
That wasp is under threat like never before at the moment, but it's still buzzing. Just.
