I do feel sorry for Nichols. He does try hard and is a good footballer and the fact he hasn't scored must be a massive weight around his shoulders. He does seem to play a part in many of the goals scored by others so may be attacking midfielder is a position which would be more suitable ? Anyway DC out no in oh I don't know what's Devon White up to ?

This is exactly the problem - Jakubiak came on in the 84th minute and you're comparing it to Nicholls 96 minutes on the pitch. Jukabiak and Reilly played the entire game against an extremely weak inexperienced Exeter on Tuesday and did absolutely nothing.
Not only did they fail to score against what is probably the weakest defence they'll come up against all season, they barely regsitered a shot or created a chance.
When Nichols doesn't play the team is under constant pressure because none of the other 3 can hold up the ball or link play.
And they were playing for a weak and inexperienced team. Just for balance like.

What the hell makes anybody confident a Payne/Reilly partnership will get goals! The only forward prepared to shoot at goal now is Bennett. Bennett was brought in as a wide player, but DC no longer believes in having wide players we just keep attacking down the middle where there are usually 3 huge defenders

Jakubiak also played a full game v Exeter reserves on Tuesday and did nothing of note. Sadly neither him nor Reilly seem the answer. Plus I doubt Watford will allow him play on Tuesday anyway. And Nicholls has been playing full games since last season. Don't you see the flaw in that? Youre saying Jak and Reilly have had their chance because they've played a few minutes here and there or a cup game in a youth team and not capitalised on it. Nicholls has played non-stop since he arrived from Peterborough and not capitalised on it. It surely must be time to try something else when the system that's been used for so long hasn't worked.

No. You (and clarke) need to recognise what he is - a attacking midfielder. Indeed one of the best in the division. Fantastic at making goal scoring opportunities when played in the right way. Never ever been correctly played since he has been with us. So Peterborough's manager didn't recognise that either? Lazy analysis. Posh are famous for hiring and firing rapidly. A team apparently offered quite a lot of money for a player that was hardly setting their team alight so they said 'fine'. Completely in keeping with the way they do business. If you aren't superman they let you move on. The supermen then get sold for millions and the whole system whirls.

It's always a bad sign when your strikers aren't on the list of players considered to take a penalty to win a game. Imagine this bunch at Wembley v Grimsby And remember who wasn't even in the top 7 lined up to take the pens? Blissett. That tells a story.

I can literally hear the songs being sung at half time now 😂

Nichols is getting assists/chances the other two doing Cheese all, anybody calling for them two to play must want us to get relegated, the only change I'd consider is to play Bennett with Payne, but then we have no wingers unless Rodman's finally decided he'd like to earn his wages.

No lazy reading, I was referring to Posh not identifying Nichols was a CM not a striker.

OK you're clearly not absorbing what I'm saying so we'll just go round and round in circles like usual. Just answer this question: How are the other two meant to so anything from the bench?

Reilly 6 starts and 7 sub appearances. 13 in total. Jakubiak 5 starts and 10 sub appearances. 15 in total. Payne 15 starts and 3 sub appearances. 18 in total. They may not have played as many minutes as Nichols but they've certainly all had numerous chances. Unfortunately for 95% of their time on the pitch you wouldn't even know they were out there.
Nichols on the other hand has been instrumental in almost all our best attacking play and has directly assisted in 4 goals in our last 3 games.

I'm a big critic but the fact that I probably have to agree that Nichols with his record is our best striker speaks volumes. The title shouldn't be Nichols should be dropped but we desperately need a strike force. They should all be dropped.

But because Nichols isn't scoring according to LJG he must be dropped so players with 28 appearances between can be given a chance even though they've only 1 goal and no assists between them, I'm not sure what to do as having watched them I think they are totally out of their depth. For all their faults Payne and Nichols are our best strike force at present, perhaps against weaker opposition they'll actually score on Tuesday if they don't and we lose then it's going to be a long 6 weeks or so til January.

I remember the boxing day match in 2002 at the old Vetch Field.
I think we went into the game bottom of the football league but swapped places with the Swans thanks to the goal machine Paul Tait. Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All The Way...

Well Payne has scored two, Jakubiak has scored two and Reilly has scored one so I think you're either struggling with your maths or being deliberately disingenuous to say they've scored one between them. Why are you so keen to deliberately ignore facts?

In any case, our other strikers should have a far better chance of scoring playing alongside Nichols than without him. Nichols goal return has been shocking but he's definitely the best footballer and most creative forward we have.
However, I don't personally believe our other strikers are good enough even if their strike partner was Ronaldo.
