As much as I love Darrell Clarke and the memories he has given us, I do start to question his methods and tactics. I mean, we concede two goals in quick succession, we desperately need a goal or someone that can create one and what does he do?? Bring on Lockyer! 1. Lockyer played an international game on Tuesday night and flew back yesterday morning, What’s the point of Broadbent or Menayese if they’re not on the bench in these situations. 2. He brought Lockyer on for Kelly. Lockyer = CB, Kelly = LB. we had Holmes-Dennis on the bench he’s a Left Back but doesn’t get a look in, completely baffling 3. Matthews and Lines remained on the bench while Lockyer and Leadbitter came on, against a conference side at home I just don’t understand If someone has valid reason behind these insanse decisions then please enlighten me I want to know I haven’t seen much about Lockyer’s substitution on other threads which I’m surprised about, apologies if already been said. 1. Broadbent is injured. Menayese was on the bench. 2. Holmes-Dennis wasn't on the bench in the end, think he was replaced by Menayese - not sure if something happened to him in the warm-up. Agree that the use of Lockyer was baffling to say the least!

I really want DC to succeed but he has massively shot himself in the foot in the last couple of transfer windows with the type of player he has bought in.
In the Conference, L2 and our first season in L1, we never had the best players (bar Bodin and Taylor) but he always had players who would put 100% in. He said to us fans that he only wanted players here that would give everything for the shirt and put maximum effort in. We had Mildenhall, Brown, McChrystal, Sinclair, Mansell, Lockyer, Clarke, Monnkhouse and Bodin.
All these types of players gave everything on the pitch and actually looked like they wanted to be here (some of them still are of course) and us fans could recognise the effort and desire.
Recently, they have been replaced with players like Payne, Upson, Smith, Bennett all of them who definitely have quality looking at their careers to date but don't look like they want to be here. Maybe that is a harsh thing to say as no-one is performing well at the moment and they will collectively come good but if I could see the players giving their all, perhaps you could forgive the poorer quality.

The only thing I can think of with regards to the Lockyer substitution was changing it to 3-5-2 with Leadbitter and Rodman as the wing backs, a midfield of Upson, Sercombe and Bennett who was sat just behind the 2 strikers. That way we have an extra man in the middle whilst still keeping 2 up top. Would it have been the sub I would have made given the situation though? Can't say it would have been...

That's what I figured as well. I don't know if I'd have done that, but I understand why he'd think that freeing Leadbitter from his defensive duties and using his pace more up front, along with Sercombe and Bennett bombing the channels, would bring something different. Problem is we still don't have anyone but Lines to create things from the midfield, so it doesn't really matter how we attack tbh.

Didn't go to the game. Watched the highlights. Everyone goes on about missing chances and I have to ask how on earth people can blame DC when you see players missing open nets from 8 yards out. (Bennetts effort off the post) We are consistently not scoring having tried all sorts of personnel up top, yes DC bought them, with a limited budget I might add, let's be honest, that's about 7 or 8 games this season where we've said we should have won. Other teams are getting few opportunities and taking them. At some point the blame has to transfer to the players in equal measure. Have we really tried all sorts up top and not scored? I genuinely would be interested for someone to do an analysis of the minutes played by our four strikers and the goals scored. It appears to me that we haven't tried all sorts at all but largely stuck with the same. That said I'm aware there may be some element of bias in my memory so would like to see the statistics.

Hargreaves and Holloway. I would give him till xmas, however frustrating it is we didn't drop league points tonight. Holloway doesn't get on with owners.
Who told you this?
Was it your same "source" who told you we had been sold in October, after all of the paperwork had been done in August?

LJG , we are a shower, what is the point in arguing it? All four recognized strikers have had some game time and have failed to score. You arent going to suggest we start putting midfielders up top are you?

Only a clown would think that's a good idea!! Paul Hurst I'd take if I'm honest.

I was a big fan of Hurst's but the way he screwed Shrews over on his day-trip to Ipswich, means we should have a very serious think before employing someone who is likely to f**k off at the first sign of more money elsewhere.

The only honourable thing for DC to do is to keep going and carry on doing his job. He knows the players better than anyone. A new manager has to work with the same squad and he’s streets ahead with his knowledge of players and the club. Some comments on here are ridiculous. If we had never had DC as a manager and we were shortlisting and he was available, he would be shortlisted. Let him do his job. The fault is certain players not him. One or two need to take a long hard look and a few more need to admit they underperforming and knuckle down. Great Post.. I absolutely agree with you. He's made some mistakes but there's enough time to put it right. The players are underperforming and his job is to get the best out of them which I believe he will do. For me there's not only a crisis of confidence within the group, there's probably one or two bad apples that need sorting out. Totally. One of the best managers in the lower divisions. Why get rid of one of the best managers in the lower divisions and appoint An Other?? You need a good manager proven to get you through the tough spells and when you've got one, keep him because all clubs have these spells, so when they come around, you know you've got the right man. Back the gaffer, back the club and let's cut this stupidity.

So minutes per goal looks like: TN - 1110 SP - 538 GR - 640 AJ - 273.5 That aside TN and SP have had pretty much double the game time of AJ and GR. I genuinely see no reason not to give them an extended run in the side now in the absence of anything better.

He won’t walk and won’t be sacked. We will just sink until the inevitable last minute fight to stay up! It may be too late by then anyhow. I’d say relegation is 50/50 at present but is quickly gathering pace on the negative angle.

To all those wanting DC out .. Yes very well but what sort of out so you want?
Hard or soft?
....or shall we just wait a bit of time, saturate the mainstream media with fear tactics, then campaign for a people poll sometime later when it suits..
