Its a great analogy and I'd kind of agree with you if let's say my favourite pie in Greggs suddenly had its recipe changed. But there's something about football and its grass roots that make us feel a little more than just customers, albeit not always loyal ones. And of course, it would take more than one slightly sub-standard pie to stop you ever going again? It appears my attempt to distinguish between what an everyday customers expectation level is versus a football fan was completely wasted on you pal..

This year getting knocked out might not be such a bad thing.
We almost certainly would have been knocked out next round anyway.
A freed up Saturday to spy or scout other teams and/or players.
Or, a day free to join the Tommy Robinson pro brexit rally....
Every cloud, eh?

To play devil's advocate here, the club took major strides this season to turn us from supporters into customers. Customers, of course, are well within their right to decide they don't like the quality of the product that is being offered and so they can see if they get superior quality elsewhere or simply spend their hard earned money doing something more fulfilling. You pays yer money and you takes yer choice, as they say. Its a great analogy and I'd kind of agree with you if let's say my favourite pie in Greggs suddenly had its recipe changed. But there's something about football and its grass roots that make us feel a little more than just customers, albeit not always loyal ones. I think that era has been and gone sadly. The problem with a more professional club is that it is needed in a lot of ways but you lose the personal feeling connecting fans with the club. Does the current Rovers structure of CEO's coming out of our arse and Heads of this and Directors of that leave you feeling closer to the heart of the club or further away? I consider myself a customer these days based on the above reasoning and frankly the product that was served up at Burton was dia-bloody-bolical. How much more of my income am I prepared to commit to it is the question I am asking myself. If the cost was inconsequential (as it was a few years ago when I had a lot of surplus income) then it isn't a problem however that isn't the case for me these days and I am sure that is the same for some other fans too...
