Grant McCann has pledged to track down and have punished Doncaster Rovers supporters involved in an incident of spitting with a young ball boy at Bristol Rovers. It is alleged that the youngster was spat in the face of in the immediate aftermath of Rovers' 4-0 win at the Memorial Stadium and had to be escorted off the pitch by striker Alfie May.
An angry McCann said the fans could be easily indentified and insists he will be pushing for them to be banned. "Just before I start speaking about the game I just want to tell you how disgusted I am with some of our fans after the game," McCann said at the start of his post-match press briefing. "One of the ballboys has come in from Bristol Rovers crying his eyes out. "Fair play to Alfie May, he's brought him in. "If we find out who those fans were, we'll make sure they get dealt with. I'm disgusted. "They come here to support us and our fans are outstanding but it takes two or three idiots to spit in a ballboy's face. I think it's embarassing.
"Credit to our fans, they were outstanding but two or three of them can give us a bad name and I'm really upset about it. "It's not nice. Alfie has brought the boy in and he knows who the people were that spit in his face. "I've got the boy a signed shirt and I couldn't be more apologetic about it. "I'm disgusted by it but it is what it is."

Fair play to McCann.
Every club has its share of Fools, let's hope these get banned.

Should be locked in some stocks in Bristol city centre so we can all pop down and spit in their faces to see how they like it.
Thugs.

They should be locked in the bogs with Bolders, more than spit to worry about.

Fair play to McCann. Every club has its share of Fools, let's hope these get banned. Agree with that. And if you can't be happy at a 4-0 away win then I worry for their sanity.

Just reading through the viking chat forum, looks like 100% of the donny fan base are appalled and it already looks like the wheels are in motion to identify the culprits.
I'd rather be punched than spat at.

Yeah I have nothing but good things to say about the Donny fans, especially after our JPT final with them a few years back. Had some really good banter with them on the train, all good natured stuff and also a really good football chat with some.
Every club has its fair share of idiots and it’s usually just one or two that ruin it and fair play to McCan and Alfie May for sorting it out. Top class that.

Great gestures by Grant McCann and Alfie May too, heart warming behaviour.

While working in lincolnshire back in 84 my best mate was from hatfield in donny, we went to two friday night games, the only two they lost at home that season while on the way to promotion, donny lads said i was a bloody jinx but i could come back to donny but not to football. Interesting time up there as miners strike was going on.
