Does anyone think we're down whatever happens next ? keeping GC or getting a new manager ? The board apparently aren't going to provide cash for signings and we haven't got the goals in us to win many games ?
A slight contradiction to the last comment -can we hope Jakubiak and Reilly might yet deliver as they hardly ever got a start under DC ?

Difficult to judge, certainly don't score enough goals, but until recently were quite tight at the back, expect Bradford and Plymouth to pull through Rochdale to go down, it will be tight. Think at the end of the season a lot are out of contract so a major re building job for someone, budget will be cut so a little gloomy. We need to appoint soon so the new man has the whole of the window but you can bet it will be last minute . Com time.

IMO if we don’t sign at least 1 striker and 1 wide man in January then we’re down (and of course, those players need to be of a decent standard too...) I don’t think we have the attacking players in the squad to keep us up, currently. So let’s hope the new man has some contacts and can wheel and deal us out of trouble!

With Pochettino lined up for Man Utd, my next choice would be Holloway.
He would add two thousand onto the gate for his first game, have the Mem stoked and a positive atmosphere restored. His man management/motivational skills are second to none, He knows the players, loves the club. He has a good track record on limited budget.
I loved watching him as a player unfortunately as a manager, it came too early for him and similar to Daryl when the pressure mounted his decision making was questionable. What happened he went away and took Blackpool!! into the premiership. Since then he has amassed a wealth of experience, tactically more astute and as a man manager ready for the scrap.
A short term contract with a young coach alongside him he would turn things around.Unlike other times in our history the players are not as bad as our position suggests. We need confidence, inspiration and to bring in a centre forward. Olly would deliver this.
I have watched Rovers since i was a lad including watching olly on his debut but in 50 years I have seen minimal success. I have learnt to survive on brief highlights in between some fairly turgid seasons. Six months of Olly for me would be far better than some unknown scot I have never heard off, has no knowledge of the league, the club or the city, as previously suggested.
Get him in before the weekend and watch the season come alive.

Dont worry Mark I suspect we will only be in the relegation zone for the last 20mins of the season. I wonder if Toni Watola chose the stairs over the lift?

UTG you're probably right - he would get 2,000 extra on the gate - but surely he's not on the board's radar - and his comments about a lack of funds for DC will also scare the board off. Personally, I wouldn't be against him coming (especially on a 6 -month contract). he would fire everyone up - a bit like Ward did when he first came back for his second spell in Div 2.

The last few days I have been thinking that I am going crazy. Stop laughing at the back please. I actually think Steve Yates would be a very good replacement. I know he was kit man then coach for us but everything was going really well when he was back at the club. It seems to have gone down hill since he left. I know that is just a coincidence by the way. He knows Rovers, he knows what our fans want, he is obviously a good coach as well. I actually would prefer him to a lot of those names on the bookies list and I would prefer him over Holloway too even though Ollie has experience and Yates don't. I really don't know why I am thinking this but I just have a feeling that Yates would be a great fit for our next manager.
Crazy I know. My tin hat is on.

It all started going downhill after he left? Maybe it was a coincidence, and I'm sure someone will have the statistics to prove me wrong, but I'm sure we were better defensively with Steve barking out orders from the sidelines. Unfortunately, the Mem doesn't have the climate of the Mediterranean to lure him back!

But it didn’t work out, why are you loving Plymouth?

Flynn now 4/5 and nobody near at the bookies! Very uninspiring if that happens imo. I’ll give him a chance but has zero excitement factor for me if so.

Wasn’t excited by DC at the time either so maybe it’s not the worst thing ever to have no expectations if it happens.

How on Earth have you taken that from an article which I said summarizes Holloway? Did you even read it or does your blind love for the man cloud your judgement? Holloway is a leach desperate for attention. He is a liar with no sense of loyalty (he just has it when someone pays him) Holloway said he wanted QPR to beat us (some fan) Holloway (when angling for the City job years ago) was asked about his support at Rovers, he said he supports all sport in Bristol. He was at Plymouth and said "cut me I bleed green" (some fan) He only ever attends Rovers games when he is paid by Sky, BT, BBC, ITV etc. And now look at him, he doesn't have a job so he is suddenly trying to claim his love & devotion to Bristol Rovers again.
