Coughlan talks a good game I like everything he’s saying in interviews, also was a joy to see his passion throughout the game.. my heart is saying maybe give him a shot... but my head really wants an experienced manager. Utg

Good man. Garner would be number one choice without doubt. Still at 25/1 Garner is an interesting one, he’s been at big clubs higher than us so has some contacts you’d think, and has worked closely under some very good managers.. must have learned a thing or 2. Bet if he got the job Pulis would lend us a couple of players

It will be interesting to see how things pan out over the Christmas period with the games we have. If GC can build the boys confidence up, keep them playing like they have in the last 2 and bring home 5-6 points out of the next 4 games (bear in mind 3 are away!) then personally I'd prefer the club to stick with him for a while rather than risk unsettling things with an new manager.

Just a thought - I’ve always preferred managers at work that were promoted from within rather than brought in externally. Those external appointments just annoy and unsettle things!

Just heard the post Fleetwood interview with GC. Give him the job. I said in another thread, maybe this one, that knowing us we'll get the easiest and cheapest option but after hearing what he had to say, no brainer for me.

Totally disagree, the last thing GC needs is his old boss looking over his shoulder; what he probably will need is Widdrington helping him identify the right type of signings. Widdrington being present will surely help Coughlan or any new boss come to that, I agree. Sturrock being involved at some level couldn't hurt providing it's not as manager. He has a wealth of experience as pirate said, and would be there possibly to give a bit of advice to GC or whoever the new manager is, when needed. Jumping the gun considerably here though aren't I! It's just a scenario I could imagine making sense. This makes interesting reading: looks like Widdrington and Sturrock had a falling out at Southend - Coughlan also mentioned in the article: www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/8742723.fans-are-left-flat-by-widdrington-exit/

Coughlan now joint with Flynn at 2/1 looks like a load of cash has been thrown at it being made permanent....

Until the end of the season definitely. 2-3 year contract ? No, give him until May to earn it first.
