8 days no appointment yet could it be that they have nobody as good as dc Starnes did say in his interview with GT that he didn't expect them to make an appointment until January. At first I just thought typical of the glacial pace the board seem to move at, but on reflection I do not mind giving Coughlan and Hargreaves a few games to see what they can do.

I see the gas legend that is Tony Pulis has recommended Ben Garner for the big job now Good man. Garner would be my number one choice without doubt.

You have to remember that when employed by another club (whether it be QPR, Argyle, Blackpool, whoever), Ollie understandably wanted everyone on board. Professing he "bleeds orange/green/blue" is just part of that. If the fans think he is one of them they will identify with him and stick with him. Probably part of why it hurt Argyle fans do much when he left them. And I'm sorry, but I know for a fact that his team (i.e. who he would be supporting were he not a footballer / football manager) is Bristol Rovers. I assure you that at no stage did he ever angle for the City job. Don't get me wrong. I think his best days as a manager are probably behind him now and if he were to come back it should be on an interim basis only, but some of your comments are simply incorrect. Did DC say cut me I bleed blue? No. Because it’s bollocks mate. Ou can say I love this club, I’m down with that - I have no issues with a manager saying that they even became a supporter of that team. But cut me a bleed green? That’s denouncing Bristol Rovers. There was a point in certain he was angling for that job. They were without a manager, he was without a club and suddenly he was in the box at Ashton Gate and told the TV that he supports all Bristol sport. If that isn’t angling then I have no idea what angling is tbh. I’m not saying he isn’t a Rovers fan, he just doesn’t love the club like some people claim he does. Unfortunately people are blinded by the ‘legend’ status Guess we just agree to disagree!

The problem with this is, a new manager starts in Jan and takes at least 3/4 games to assess the squad. This will take you to pretty much the end of Jan and the end of the transfer window !!

Personally they fill me with zero confidence. I don't mind a board taking a little while longer to bring in the best candidate but you just know with this mate it'll either be one of Wael's mates or Peter Dam Pan. You'd think all they're interested in is quaffing port and mince pies for three weeks. At this rate we'll be relegated by the time they make an appointment. I'd joke about us having a stadium first but it's in the same shoddy hands.

I wonder how many prospective managerial applicants will be in attendance at our theatre of dreams tomorrow? I hope all sightings will be reported on this thread asap.

In today’s quick as lightning news everyone wants a decision made ASAP. But with us out of the cup and a spare weekend then I agree that taking that time to make the right appointment is sensible. Give Coughlan and Hargreaves a few matches and use that time to get some thinking time. PL clubs do it all the time in the international breaks. Any serious manager would I hope be asked about future players and future plans so even if he’s not in place for January 1st I would hope he would share ideas with those who do the appointing so that whoever is successful might be able to act when appointed. UTG!

I think there is little chance of getting out of this mess and personally I feel Coughlan will be given the job until at least the end of the season - and then the clear out will begin. Any manager considering leaving another club to come here will firstly need their head examined and secondly their judgement questioned.

The only employed manager we could tempt would be one from lower L2 and below sadly

I don't think some people realise how serious it would be to go back down to division 4. We may never come back. It could seriously decide what future we have as a club if any. We now need to appoint a manager that not only has previous experience of getting us up the table but one that can also improve us as a club and try and get us to the Championship. The only one I feel that has those credentials is Steve Cotterill.

Bugger Cotterill pull out all the stops to get Hurst in he’s the nearest thing to DC and he’s out of work

Mid table League 1 is our upper limit until we progress off the pitch.
