Us true Rovers fans will never forget what you did for this club Darrell. As a fan for 57 years this is a dark day for me. You dragged us out of the mire until this group of chancers came in and ballsed it all up with empty promises and empty wallets. We, the real fans and not the ones who sit around me every match and winge and moan like little girls know the real truth. You have not left the club by "mutual consent", you have been fired by a group of faceless wonders who do little, say nothing and take Rovers fans as fools. I can assure you Mr Hamer and all of your cronies that we will not take this lying down. You will no doubt hear how people feel about you at the game against Fleetwood on the 15th when I trust Rovers fans will turn up in their thousands to vocally tell you what we think of all of you. Darrell, I trust that you and Stewie enjoy a peaceful Christmas with your families and be assured that we will never forget what you did for this club. I have no doubt that you will progress in the future, you will become a top manager and I trust that one day you come back to the Mem with another club and you stuff it up us, just to say to Hamer and company, "I told you so"

I will never forget DC going on 20man the week after relegation from the EFL when everything was incredibly raw and fronted it up with the fans. He then went on with an impassioned speech about all his plans to turn the club around on and off the pitch and how he would create a club the players gave a damn, played football worth watching and gave the fans a club to be proud of. Boy did he deliver. Everything he said that night on the radio went on to happen. After the 2nd promotion, I asked Geoff 20man if he still had that interview in the archives and sadly they didn't, because it would have made interesting listening. The most honest, hard working, dedicated and successful Bristol Rovers manager in my lifetime. I doubt I will every see another like him. In my opinion he was the only man to get us out of this mess, but I hope I'm wrong. DC, words are not enough to express thanks. Couldnβt put it any better than this, so I wonβt try. A sad day to be a Gashead.

I sir tip my hat off to you,and thank you for everything you have done for this club. Our greatest, and the most honest manager in our history - and I stand up to give you the biggest round of applause ever for this.... ππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππ Amazing the difference in how DC and Trollope are perceived, despite essentially failing at the same hurdle. Really sorry to see him go though. The achievements of the two managers couldnβt be further apart. One had a promotion with the aid of an experienced head the other two promotions with the club in free fall. Trollope has proved that on his own he just cannot cut the mustard, Clarke on the other hand has. Both eras were eventually good times under Tfollope and Clarke.

Both took over a club in freefall and turned it around. They both hit a ceiling and couldn't formulate a side that could compete in L1. I'm a big DC fan but it's easy to gloss over the fact that he inherited a side above the L2 relegation zone and saw us go down. An element of responsibility had to go down to him not organising a side that could pick up enough points.

I'm a big DC fan but it's easy to gloss over the fact that he inherited a side above the L2 relegation zone and saw us go down. An element of responsibility had to go down to him not organising a side that could pick up enough points. And there lies the problem IMO. There are managers who are great at inspiring hard working players to overachieve and there are managers who can galvanise more talented individuals into a winning team. DC inherited a bunch of wasters, couldn't turn it around in just a few games but bounced back by replacing them with tryers. Your tryers will inevitably begin to struggle at a higher level and that's when it gets tough again. Better quality players (supposedly) come in on higher wages and team spirit will nosedive when they don't perform. So, mixed feelings for me today, I'll always be grateful to DC for bringing pride back to our club and for creating some fantastic memories. I would love to have to see him turn things around as I truly believed he was building something special for us. However, his recent signings have let him down and he looked to have run out of ideas. A sad day, but something had to give. The owners are guilty of a multitude of sins, not least massively raising expectations then failing to deliver. But, the playing budget is still competitive by our standards and I'd rather a new manager is given an opportunity to assess the squad and recruit his own players during the window. I don't believe long term stadium projects are an issue for a player signing a 2 year contract and a I doubt anyone chooses a club because if its training facilities. It's about the money, the team spirit and the opportunity to play in a winning team. Hopefully the next manager is given something to work with in Jan and he can get more out of the players we already have. DC was clearly struggling and there was no light at the end of the tunnel. If we are stil in L1 next season today's decision will be vindicated. Good luck DC and UTG

Trollope one promotion with Lennie Lawrence, Darrel Clarke two promotions as a rookie manager! Straight forward facts.

Haha, losing finalist in the Mickey Mouse cup and a sixth round FA Cup! Iβd take the two promotions over that as would most people. Ah the old relegation side swipe, very convenient. Set up for the fall is more apt concerning that debacle.

Most of trolls players were signed by Ian Atkins and him and LL made then into a team, with others. Huge amounts spent after promotion as well (we had cup money, and pre recession)

Absolute disaster. I'd be amazed if anyone else can improve on where we are. Goodbye any form of communication with the club.
I wont be back in a hurry.
