London wasps have announced that they are moving lock stock and barrel to play their home games in Coventry at the Ricoh arena, a 107 mile journey. With baths problems getting planning for the rec, would it be a good idea for NH to try and get them on board for a ground share going half a on building costs. A 12 mile journey must be more attractive than the 200 mile round trip wSps expect their fans to make. Discuss.

Uwe? Have i missed something That's the point, regardless of what happens with sainsburys, rovers can sell mem for housing, bath use there rec redevelopment cash between the 2 clubs we could get uwe built. It's a plan b thinking outside of the box.

Slightly different scenario as Wasps didn't have a ground to call their home whereas Bath do.
I can't imagine many Wasps fans will be making the 200 mile round trip in the long term, this just seems a franchise move similer to MK Dons.

It's owned by a trust, hence why they have difficulty building as during close season the public are allowed to use the field when the temp stand comes down. Written in some covenant. We both need new stadia. If I was nick Higgs I'd be lining them up as a plan b

Of course the good news is Wycombe will lose a shed load of money from wasps move. They are only playing one more game at Adams park. Their community ownership will be in turmoil!!!

Don't wanna sound like a doubting Thomas but do we know the Mem will go for housing if Sainsburys pull out or is that wishful thinking?

Even with the flurry of activity the house building industry are experiencing we are as a nation only building approx. 100,000 of the government target of 200,000 homes per year to equal demand.

Aye but it's like when people on here say things like oh no bother we'll just get Tesco to buy instead, like it would just be a click of the fingers thing. Took us a hell of long time to get this deal sorted.

Took us a hell of long time to get this deal sorted. Tesco have recently started building housing on land that they bought. Presumably land that was bought to build supermarkets on or to stop their competitors. Now they've decided housing is the way to go. I've posted a link to the story on the forum before. I can't be bothered to find it again. There was a rumour going around that they would buy the Mem if we redesigned our shirts to look like a Tesco bag

Reading NH quoted in the Indy today, he still sounds very solid about the UWE, either forcing Sainsburys to pay up, or by using a Plan B, which he can't talk about. Maybe Bath are Plan B! He says he is obliged to keep schtum about the whole situation, but he does sound confident.

Unlike the old ones, the new ones would have to be biodegradable. Would they disintegrate in the rain?

Who would have thought Wasps had enough cash to buy half of the Ricoh? We need big investment in this club to move forward; not sufficient to have a bunch of directors putting in just enough to save us from administration.

Okay but has a deal like that been proposed to Bristol Rovers? It's not so simple as all that, especially considering how hard it is to get permission to do anything round here. If that happens I'll go watch Bristol Manor Farm.

If that happens I'll go watch Bristol Manor Farm. I suppose the point I was making was Tesco are now building houses. Whether on land they bought to originally build supermarkets or stop your competitors. Therefore I doubt very much they'd be interested in buying more land. From what I can gather the Mem is worth about 30 million for a supermarket or 10 million for houses. So really if Sainsbury pull out, or have already, the most we could hope for is 10 million. www.theguardian.com/business/2014/jul/18/tesco-unlocks-landbank-to-build-4000-new-homesFrom what has been said on here previously The Rovers already had some kind of planning permission for housing a few years ago. From memory the poster(s) seemed to think that planning permission was still OK, or could be resubmitted with some changes.

You could build an awful lot of Student accommodation on the Mem Site with a Stadium being there !
