I know it could well be tabloid bullshit, but blimey, I feel that would simply relegate us there and then if he left in Jan: www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6498969/Championship-clubs-planning-bids-cut-price-Brentford-stopper-Jack-Bonham.htmlChampionship clubs planning bids for cut-price Brentford stopper Jack Bonham after impressive loan spell with League One Bristol Rovers Brentford keeper Jack Bonham is out of contract at the end of the season He has impressed while on loan at League One strugglers Bristol Rovers The Pirates want to make move permanent but Championship clubs also keen Brentford goalkeeper Jack Bonham is attracting interest from rival Championship clubs after his impressive spell on loan at Bristol Rovers. The 25-year-old has been outstanding in League One despite his side's struggles. He has been topping statistics' charts for the best save percentage of any goalkeeper in England this season. However, he is out of contract with parent club Brentford in the summer and that has attracted a number of scouts to the Memorial Ground this season. Clubs are looking for a bargain either in January or the summer when Bonham will be free. Rovers, who parted company with manager Darrell Clarke this week after sinking to 21st in the table, want to sign Bonham on a permanent deal. However, they face immediate competition from promotion-chasing Peterborough United and know Championship sides are also weighing up offers. Bonham, who has kept eight clean sheets in 19 games, also qualifies for the Republic of Ireland.

We’d have to go out and find another loan as good as him which I reckon we’d have about a 1 in 10 chance of doing and like you say it would pretty much relegate us there and then.

It’s frustrating as with a bit more backing we might have signed him permanently in the first place rather than showcase him for everyone else

Yeah, and if he turned out to be sh!t, DC would have got abuse for having 3 permanent keepers.

Fair point but that’s where you have to back a managers judgement or you won’t sign anybody

Exactly Topper.
It's easy signing players sat at home on a laptop, actually I'm quite good at it on Football Manager!!!!

How do Posh manage to sign expensive players? They smaller gates than us don’t they? They get much smaller gates than us, but have recruited well and made a significant profit on player sales.

I guess we are ignoring Taylor, Bodin and our next cash cow Sercombe plus a squad that got us to league 1? Payne should have been a good signing based on last season and Nichols scored goal elsewhere.

Sercombe, our next cash cow..?
You do realise he can sign for other clubs for free in 2 weeks?

Just FWIW, he can speak to non-English clubs in January but English clubs can't speak to him until June when he enters the final month of his contract.

We won't get big money for him, if he was going to it would have been when he left Oxford. A really good Div1 player but not higher I don't think and that's where the bigger transfer money is, Peterboro regularly buy around the same amount but then always manage to uncover a big sale every so often. Speculate to accumulate is not in Hani's vocabulary!

Yes it's a good model if you can spot young talent and get the right contracts for those you want to keep or sell.

Aaron Chapman made a couple of mistakes yesterday against Shrewsbury which cost Posh 2 points so it wouldn’t be a surprise. Pompey and Sunderland must be favourites for the top two but I bet Steve Evans will want to spend his way to success. As he’s 25 he will want to be part of a successful team asap and they will have more money than us. UTG!

Aaron Chapman was L2 keeper of the year last year. Would quite happily see a swap!

I can't stand Posh, but it's mainly because I'm a bit jealous that they have a transfer policy that is streets ahead of us. Although it is a bit scattergun, like the lower league version of Chelsea. Still, it's a sure fire way of making decent money from transfers, bring in several highly rated young players each year and inevitably at least one of them will be sold for a large profit, clearing their expenditure and creating a quality team in the process.
