Have ta take my hat off ta these two lads, if anyone deserves great support its these two in my opinion.
Still so young, Both been with us for around a decade! Wow!
Tom - Over 200 appearances Ollie - Nearly 200 appearances
In that time they have experienced th highs an lows more than anyone an have handled it all.
Amazing Rovers Youth team achievements, their debuts/first seasons (under Magoo ffs), th highs of relegation survival under JW, th low of relegation out of League football, Promotion first time in Vanarama an Wembley, follow up promotion to League One in that famous last day, really good stable first two seasons back in League One and sadly a relegation battle this season coupled with th departure of their manager.
Now i realise they've both had a few bad performances along th way, but these lads are our backbone an i applaud them both for not only surviving in a team going through so many changes and ups/downs but thriving. An on top of that both brilliant ambassadors for our club. As a Gashead i couldnae be prouder.
Whatever happens i just know these lads will handle it. 'mon th Tom and Ollie !!!

You may want to revisit which managers gave them their debuts.

Both been fantastic servants for this club and I, for one, will be gutted with Lockenbauer inevitably departs for greener pastures.

I agree with this. Ollie is older than Tom but had a lot of serious injuries as a teenager so took a lot of time to get to 50 appearances. Been a regular since then though.
The Doncaster game was Tom’s 250th start for Rovers and DC was manager or assistant for every single one of them. No wonder Tom was a little emotional in his interview. DC has basically overseen his whole professional career.

Top post.
I've never really understood why 'two of our own' have taken so much stick over the years. Most clubs would be so proud of two young players who have come through the ranks and racked up so many appearances, showing commitment to the cause throughout.

I think Ollie has got better and better. I am surprised that a club hasnt took a gamble on him as he is a fighter. Lockyer however, I think he has under performed this season but do I think he has got what it takes to succeed. I think he needs a leader type next to him to take some pressure off of him. Just an opinion though. Its great that these boys has come through the youth ranks and actually made it.

Great post Big Jock, completely agree. Both great servants of the club. With Danny L and Sincs the last members of our Conference season. Listening to TLs interview he was emotional about DC leaving and I can understand why. Probably reflects what nearly all fans feel and reflects what all fans should feel. I hope all 4 are involved as the season goes on and can show what some new players need to know about what it means to be gas. UTG!

Hard worker for sure but a long way off making the step up for me. Isn't technically good enough and doesn't impact games in the final third nearly enough. Wouldn't be surprised if he finds himself out the door when a new manager comes in.

Funnest post today - Keep it up we need things like this to keep us going in our darkest hour What's funny about it? He is what Bristol Rovers are all about. He won't be out the door unless he wants to join DC when he takes over at Exeter very soon Our current manager rates him very highly and i'm pretty sure he will be our next manager as he is the cheapest option available

Tom Lockyer may have underperformed, but I don't think it's a leader type he needs, just a bigger/more physical partner.
The Leader thing is weird. Some people always harp on about him not being vocal or whatever, but he would run through a brick wall for the team

I personally not said anything about him being vocal or lack of it. I didn't know there was an issue with him not being vocal, which might make what I am about to say be unny to some who thinks Locks is not vocal enough. Locks is captain and I just feel less pressure would be on him if he had another leader type of player a long side him, someone who was as vocal or even more vocal than Locks.

I didn't mention anything about making a step up by the way. It could be a club at the same level as us. I could see him doing well at a club like Oxford or Plymouth for example. Of course he is not the finished article which I have never said and he can improve in many areas but another club may feel they could get those improvements out of him or want that hard worker in the middle of the pitch who can also get a goal too.

All of his starts have been whilst DC was at the club.
BTW - He's on 248 starts I believe, plus 9 sub apps.
Bottom line is that DC meant a massive amount to his career.
I wrote the following in a recent programme.

When Ollie plays well the team does, he is so inconsistent though and that's why he hasn't gone on to better things for me. Lockyer i think will get the chance to play in `the championship sooner rather than later.
