It's easy to get carried away in the euphoria of a last minute winner but it's too soon to suggest we've turned a corner or that Coughlan is the new messiah.
We played okay and there was some improvement but there are still a lot of areas we need to improve.
We were playing a side that have lost their last 6 away games in L1 and who were down to 10 men for the last 41 minutes of the game if you include the 6 added on.
Even with the man advantage it wasn't really until stoppage time we put them under any intense pressure and actually looked like scoring. Until JC got the last minute winner it looked like it was going to be the same old story that's played out in many other games this season.
If we hadn't got that goal there would be many complaining that we failed to beat a team at home that played so long with 10 men and have lost every league away game since October 6th.
Don't get me wrong I'm as delighted with the 3 points as anyone but for me it's too soon to be suggesting we've turned the corner and Coughlan should be given the job.
I really hope this is the start of a good run and if we pick up 5+ points over the next 3 games it would be hard not to let Coughlan carry on. However, let's not get carried away. This was just one match aganst a very average side playing with 10 men. Lets wait until after the Walsall, Oxford and Burton games when we can have a more informed opinion of our progress or lack of it.
Still buzzing after that late winner though. UTG!

FFS the whole point of football is getting carried away. No-one is saying anything epochal happened yesterday but Jesus it put a smile on everyone's face. Last minute winner following spirited siege; tails up throughout; pantomime villain player and manager sent off. It seriously doesn't get any better than that. If you can't just bask in that glow....

Well people have already quoted coughlan as being the “messiah”. I tend to agree with the OP. Let’s see what the next 3 games bring as 3 defeats and everyone will be looking a bit silly

I'm not moaning. I'm ecstatic with the win and still buzzing after the last minute winner. Best moment of this season by far.
This was really just aimed at those suggesting Coughlan should be given the job after yesterdays result. I'm just saying it's too soon to come to that opinion and that we need to see how we get on in our next 3 games against average sides 11th, 18th and 16th in the table. If we come out of those with 5+ points it would be very hard to argue against Coughlan being given the chance to carry on.

This is a fair point, it’s not about nicking one late winner, or one game where we’ve looked a bit better.
The job at hand is getting a management structure in place that will not only instal some confidence and consistency into this group to pull the club up the table, but also to use the January window and develop the club for success at the other end of the table in the future.
Well done to GC for his endeavours in the last week or so. I still want Holloway and Penrice.

It feels like a very long time since I have walked away from the mem with a beaming smile across my face. Out of next 4 games 3 are away so we've still got one hell of a challenge in front of us, if GC and the boys can deliver at least 5 points out of those games then I will be over moon!

The fact is that under Darrell Clarke too many sides just like Fleetwood have come to us and ended their bad runs and too many teams well below Fleetwood in the table have done the same thing. Its not yet the turn around but it was a damn sight better.

Don't get carried away ? How often have you been able to gloat on the back of a winning performance in recent times ?, under DC they'd have probably spanked us.
