Very happy with this news, really hope Mansell also stays involved with the first team, at least until the end of the season.

He will be a good Assistant manager I think. I was stood behind the dugouts for the Fleetwood and Burton games and he was very vocal and seemed to be tactically aware, getting the players to do various things as the match progressed, very different approach to Stewart previously. Good at doing interviews too, will make a good manager one day.

I guess the coaching side must be a bit stretched at the moment with probably 1 possibly 2 possitions vaccent....
Any guesses who might be bought in?

I know GC has said "If we start bringing outsiders in at this moment in time I don't see the impact of that or the value of that", but I would be seriously tempted to bring someone like Alun Armstrong on to the staff.
Armstrong was a highly-rated youth coach at Middlesbrough and will have learnt a thing or two from his playing career under the likes of Kevin Keegan, Bryan Robson, George Burley, Dave Jones and Steve Bruce.
He is currently doing an unbelievably good job at Blyth Spartans with a win percentage of 72.16% from 97 games.

Attachment DeletedPirate your knowledge is astonishing. Up here Nantwich are looking a progressive club. Top of their league, loaning out players and planning ground improvements.Do you have any info on their players? Good scouting network too.

Only that they have former Rovers loanees Fabian Spiess and Clayton McDonald on their books and Dean Saunders' striker son Callum too.

See Byron Antony is looking for a new role, did good job at Newport's academy and could suit any vacancy with Development squad/acedemy.

Chris Hargreaves has done a terrific job with the development squad. I reckon he's earnt his stripes for the assistant role.

Plus he still clearly has some connections with Rovers, or at least R Bristol, as he guast commentator for the recent Oxford game. I can't recall if he was positive about Coughlin/the owners though!

Another one worth considering is Daryl McMahon who had a 54.66 Win % from 161 games at Ebbsfleet and a reputation for playing attractive football. He was previously academy manager at the club and as manager he achieved a promotion and two playoff finishes in the last three years.

I suspect that we will promote from within which as a policy is ok with me so long as the person being promoted is capable an dfits all the necessary qualifications. UTG!

He was favourite for the job right until the last minute when they went for the vastly experienced Colin Calderwood.
