Good luck to him.

What a shame for all parties associated.
Aldershot were on course for promotion until we bought him. Now they’re 22nd, we’re in relegation and wasted money we don’t have and Mensah barely played during some of the most important times of his career

I would send him back to aldershot, have them take over his contract and make it a free transfer but with a 50% sell on fee on any future transfer. You think a struggling Conference club will take over the contract of a L1 player and give us a sell on fee......??

Has he had a Chance? Ripped up non league and was well rated. No, I don't think he's had a chance. Don't see him in training though to be fair and couldn't get in Lincoln's team either. In all fairness Lincoln’s side is probably better than ours at the minute. I think he’d have had more chance of getting in our side than theirs.

He came to us after a long injury I believe and was significantly missing both confidence and match fitness. Was unlikely to be favoured over their first XI players who were winning games. With Aldershot absolutely certain to slot him back into their team almost instantly, this loan spell could either be his undoing or we could receive him back full of confidence and raring to go into next season.

Tom Nichols has been given unlimited chances and yet Mensah was got rid of arguably without being fairly assessed. On the one hand the AQ's asset strip and on the other hand they are frivolous. Evolution my ass!

I'd have thought Braintree would be a good match for BM

I quite liked what I saw of him. If he'd actually been given an extended chance, I'm confident he would have done well. Well better than Nichols anyway...

At the time of his signature, many people thought he had potential to be a good signature

Given the most we hand out is two years and he was signed in January last year I expect he is out of contract in the summer and we have seen the last of him either way.

Would have liked to have seen him given more of a chance. None of the attacking players have even come close to justifying their places this season, so why not give this lad a proper go?

Which is exactly what should have happened to Tom Nichols at the end of last season/start of this. Send him out on loan to a club in a lower league to see if he can regain his confidence in front of goal, maybe in a different environment would have allowed him to improve as a player and rediscover the form that saw him earn 2 relatively big money moves around the lower leagues. It seemed nuts keeping him here. Sending Mensah back out on loan is ideal for us, it will show whether we have a player on our hands to keep or whether he can't step up and will allow us to bring in someone else who we know can cut it at this level.

Regards Tom Nichols, anyone who questions whether he is worth something didn’t see him during his time at Exeter. Sublime player. I do really believe it’s a confidence issue and he would definitely have been helped going on loan this season. As it stands we’re running down his contract, which lets face it he’s unlikely to want to extend, and cutting out some key years of his playing development. Regards Mensah, he was amazing at Aldershot. Ran the team and the team was essentially built around him. Hopefully going back will reignite the spark - the fans there love him! Typically though, the gas fans were v quick to shout ‘Who?’ And judge him after 2-3 sub appearances. Going from a club where you’re adored to that sort of atmosphere is bound to have an effect imo. He plays up for the fans by the account of my Aldershot-supporting mate and he missed that here.

To be fair I was there for that game and you’re right. But he didn’t play particularly well, a bit shaky but not particularly badly either, as expected given the situation, and since then people have heavily questioned his signing.

Nichols has done nothing for us (literally). Our second highest fee and ONE league goal in 47 league games. You can make all the excuses you like, he is not right for this club, and another demonstration, along with Payne and others that DC had no idea about recruiting players at this level. The worst thing is that someone told me DC gave him a 4 year deal. Who else is going to do that? No one, we are stuck with him
