We seem to be shifting out players, especially younger players that are appropriate cover for others. If we have long term injuries in defence or suspensions our cover is diminished. I think that we are cutting it too thin and unless something major happens in the next few days we are at real risk of relegation. Other clubs have invested and made money from cup runs etc but we are standing still. There is no point having a head of recruitment because nobody wants to come to us. I have concerns that GC has no real contacts and think he is pandering to the board and shifting out players. Everything smacks of being on the cheap! Hope I am wrong but the board have appointed a 'yes' man and I fear that may come back to bite us! UTG

No it's not. The club is losing money every year and the owners have told us often enough it has to be a self sustaining business.
I would imagine it won't be long before we're operating a small squad like the Twerton days.
Until we start making a profit I can't see how things will be changing.

Yep i am concerned at lack of opportunity given to development squad players, you would think given our failures this season someone would have got a chance, instead of shipping them off elsewhere, leaving us wide open to injury concerns, can you recall players at will in such circumstances?

I don't know what to think, but it's clear we are disbanding our younger players. People like Rollin, Russe etc will go permanently at the end of the season. Looking at it I cannot blame Broadbent for taking a 2 and a half year contract at a league club. By the way he looked at fault for Crawleys goal Saturday.

From the Manager's comments I think some of the youngsters have asked to go/out on loan because they are not playing enough, credit to them for not just sitting around and doing nothing.
I hope one or two of the more experienced higher earners take note!

I think we are clearing the decks for downsizing.
As yourself who is managing the Under 23s/Development squad?

Why can't DC and MS wages be added to the playing squad now ? Surely league 1 status is vital

Why is everyone assuming that the owners actually care whether or not we get relegated ? And I’m not talking about Wael, but the rest of the family, the real owners . . .

Regardless managers wages are separate from the playing budget so we're stuck at 60% of our turnover unless ALQ's "donate" some of their own money to the cause, although we've no idea why players will not sign for us, perhaps some would sooner play for less and not be involved in a relegation battle.

Guess who are the only club in lg1 to not make a signing??....
Guess what club would let a promising 27year old centre back leave for nothing??
Guess what club would then let his cover leave?!?
and then there is talk of bringing cover in ‘in that position’!

I am pretty sure despite the players that have left or gone out on loan this month we still have a 22 man first team squad. Basically the squad is too big right now and before was about numbering 26 which is crazy. The changes in the loan system have made it more difficult for small clubs but i would have thought a 20 player first team squad plus the best 3 development players would suffice.
When asked if players needed to go out before players come in coughlan answered yes. No bigger earners have gone out so far.

Fair point Why wasn't Ellis money donated they knew they would get that back ... could be got stockley in the summer then ?

We will be fighting for scraps on the last day. More likely to go down than stay up imo unfortunately. God help us if Bonham and Sercs go anywhere!

Even the most rose tinted fans. Must surely realise the owners are not going to be the ones to take our club forward. They lack the knowledge of the efl and the running of a professional football club and generally the staff they have employed are not upto the task. What does the future hold for Brfc? Lg2 and a ever rising HUGE SECURED DEBT

Let’s judge at the end of the transfer window.
Last January we were all panicking even when the window closed and then we signed Craig and Bennett. Regardless of what you think of these players this shows it ain’t over until the dusts settles and there’s plenty of movements yet to occur. Remember we could have targets hinges on movements in at their current or parent club, similar to the situation with Menayese.
To be fair though, I am also pessimistic of any positive incomings over the next few days

Under 18s manager will probably be promoted, as the development squad will be mainly made up of academy player's next season. GC has decided he would rather have quality, over quantity. The manager decides what to do with the playing budget.

I just find it a bit strange that with Chris Hargreaves now involved with the first team that we are looking to shed the better development squad players. I fully expected him to back these players in and push for them to make the first team now that he's involved at that level. We did win the league with the development squad last year after all.
I also get that we now need to trim the squad but with Broadbent leaving isn't that the time to tell someone like Rollin that this is his big chance to force his way into the first team? We've got a Wales international who gets called away, an older guy playing next to him who won't be here forever and could get injured - and you are the next in line Rollin. If you take your chance you could force your way into the first team here. But we've just sent him out on loan instead and said we'll get some other cover. I just do not understand where this is going.
