In another thread, I see someone said Bennett was on 200K a year. £4K x 50weeks = £200K. Shocking if true.

Sounds about right, i would expect our squad ta be on at least 1 k a week an up to around 5k.
Not sure what you expect them ta earn unless yer just trying to attack them as they've been in poor form 'as a team' this season.

Remember Bennett was reluctant to move from Portsmouth, having already turned us down once that window. It would have taken a lot of persusion from DC and a fairly large contract to bring him here. He was held in high regard by the Pompey fans for his exploits in getting them promotion from L2 and was probably earning a nice salary with them.
If we do get relegated this year, I expect he will be the first one we get off the books.

Pretty sure Pompey paid up his contract then he joined us as a non contracted player. I can't see he pocketed £4K a week from Pompey then we agreed to pay him another £4K a week. Perhaps the two contracts combined are paying him £4K a week, which would have some logic it to it.

It only matters when the team is losing - when winning who cares how much they earn?

More fool us for paying it if it's true! Completely unsustainable!

It only matters when the team is losing - when winning who cares how much they earn? Are you being serious? Win, lose or draw a player should earn their wages, not go through the motions. That is why we are where we are this season.

We pretty much know our budget is around the middle of league one. Dc told us so and we know we signed some experienced league one players which raised the outlay compared to last season. The figures ive seen on websites says average weekly pay in league one is £2,300 with the championship its £10,000.
With individual players unless someone has good evidence to present its just hearsay, though you can be sure many now have bennett and £4k fixated in their mind to forever quote on here.

What's our overall wage budget going to be this season, £3m?, if so, and we've an average 24 players at the club that's an average wage of £125,000, so £200,000 for the top earners, £75K for the bottom earners, could well be the norm for a club with a mid table budget.
