ihatefootball. I assume that as no one seems to have heard anything racist, then everyone within 20 yards of the 'guilty' party is lying about what was said, as the player is bound to be telling the truth.

Exactly, lets be seen to protect the so called minority even when there is no proof of their accusations.

It's been confirmed the abuse lasted many minutes this is acknowledged by Rovers fans nearby and the player. BRFC themselves have said "The club have accepted the player was racially abused" Dave Harper (Radio Bristol) If we search the many forums, social media etc i can find 3 witness reports of what was shouted: " You F...ing Malteser" was widely quoted and i have been told (don't use Facebook) that in the BRFC Appreciation page one Rovers fan states " I was near him and all I heard him say was chocolate brownie and few other things". Also on Twitter another rovers fan who has sent his evidence/comments to the club says the words "Golly Wog" and "Wog" were used. With respect Gasincider, you can choose what you want to believe but don't say no one has heard anything, cause that is complete rubbish.

Fair enough if there is evidence and witnesses, if all that was said I am amazed some people are still so ignorant these days.

Me too. I hope everyone will, whether they are keen or not, because a patchy response could look bad.

The Equaliser. How many of these 'witnesses' have come forward to the police? None. Yet a steward was stood almost next to the supposed villain, and heard nothing. Two people I walked out of the ground with said they only heard light hearted banter about his pink kit.
So no doubt the two who spoke about it after the game and the steward are lying. Thank goodness for modern media. We all know no one lies on there don't we.
As for me, I believe in the supposed law of the land. Innocent until proved guilty.

It's been a depressing business, causing ill-feeling on here at times. We seem now to be repeating old positions. I hope it gets resolved satisfactorily, but I doubt that it will. I am glad we haven't got Sheffield United's problem. I wonder how their fans are coping with that.

Thank goodness for modern media. We all know no one lies on there don't we. Going by your own school of thought we shouldn't believe your version either then?!? Look, i said you are entitled to your own thoughts and beliefs, that's not in question. you are correct - innocent until proven guilty of course. I haven't hounded the man or set up a witch hunt. All i am relaying is what i know or have been told, and that is the following: - Jason Brown was very upset and eventually stopped the game, after hitherto been happy to enjoy banter.
- A man was ejected by stewards.
- The clubs safety officer on Radio Bristol said "The club accept the player was racially abused".
- The Police have said and i quote "The visiting club’s goalkeeper Jason Brown was repeatedly racially abused during the second half of the game at the Memorial Stadium"
- Gasheads on Social media (with names, not usernames) have been quoted as hearing "F...ing Malteaser", "Chocolate brownie" and "Golly Wog" one Gashead of which has emailed evidence to the club.
Of course you seem to be basing all your concerns around Jason Brown and the Gasheads on Social Media being a liars, you just don't want to believe them do you. Well, as i say i'm happy with that and even understand it to some extent.
But then you must accept that others may have doubts about the stewards thoughts (not exactly gonna want to hang himself out to dry here is he) and also the thoughts/opinions of the two supporters you walked out with. You can't have it both ways we either take peoples points and opinions written on here or we don't and if you think social media is so silly and full of untruths why do you use it and put your thoughts on it, can we assume that you want us to take your comments with a pinch of salt?
As you say "innocent til proven" and i agree as i have said all along. I wouldn't even have posted any of this if you didn't persist with your continual line of you think nothing happened. Well the fact is something did happen and hopefully we will find out if indeed a law was broken. We shall see, and judge fully then.

Good post, Equaliser. Sums it up well. Let's wave our red cards, then get on and support the Gas for a difficult match.
