Tom Nichols. Doesn't score enough goals but I always feel like we look a better team with him in the side. Works hard and technically good. Him and JCH could be our first choice partnership for the rest of the season.

Hard working too which is rare for a small built creative player. Needs to start every game and I’m still not sure why he didn’t start any of the three games before today.

One of the best players in our squad in terms of technical ability. We play much better football as a team with him in it, IMO.
He’d always be in my XI.

We bought him as a striker and his confidence has been eroded over the games he has not scored, but with a bit of luck and the JCH scoring from Toms good work then I can see a very useful partnership developing. Sincerely hope that these two get a few more run outs as a first choice pair.

inb4 boner 'hes paid to score goals' Well, with respect he is. I doubt when DC bought him for 300 odd K he was thinking "any goals we get are a bonus, it's all about how much he runs around and how well he can pass". JCH is getting him off the hook because I doubt he was bought to score goals and more to hold the ball up and build a platform for our other strikers and yet he is having to do his best Andy Rammell impression because, after only a couple of weeks in the building, he has already sussed our other strikers don't have a goal in them! I saw the 3rd goal which was a tap in and apparently so was the 1st so you have to ask why Nichols hasn't been able to get on the end of one in 2 years and yet matey has got 2 in one game! Whatever, no need to go overboard on it after a good win, I hope that JCH keeps his scoring boots on because it doesn't look like our other strikers are going to be helping out on that front.

Agree with that but Nichols has set up more goals than anyone in a Rovers shirt this Season. Doesn’t matter who scores them or created them as long as they’re going in anyway.

Does anyone have the stats on how many assists Tom has this season? I reckon he would have quite a few by now.

Does anyone have the stats on how many assists Tom has this season? I reckon he would have quite a few by now. 11 in all comps, seven in the league now. Our all-round play is just so much better with him in the team. I don't buy into this whole "strikers are paid to score goals" malarkey because there's so many strikers that add much more than just goals - Gaffney only scored 24 in 113 for us, for example, but added much more to our build up. Anyway, another great performance from Tom today, even if he was perhaps a tad fortunate to not see red (looked like a red from where I was).

I was thinking the same today.Nichols overall play and skill level along with workrate is top league one/championship quality. If he ever starts to find the back of the net there will no doubt be many clubs looking to sign him off us.There is a hell of a player in there, question is will there ever be a goalscorer?

Anyone else think he was lucky to stay on the pitch after his tackle in the first half? Was far away from it but looked like quite a nasty challenge.
Was mightly relieved when he only got a yellow as he was so important to us, he and JCH looked good as a partnership. Just needs to add goals to his game and he will be indispensable for us.

Watched on iFollow - yellow nothing more Have to wonder how the Blackpool coach wasn’t sent to the stands mind in the first half

I was worried, especially by Spearing's reaction and the way the ref came running over. Have seen reds given for that.

Ha is funny how fickle a lot of fans are! Clearly has his best performance since being with us over a year ago and now fans want a whip around for a statue of him erected...
It will be the same people blaming his shocking lack of goals if we’re relegated to league two at the end of the season

That first goal today just shows he is lacking the killer instinct to go for goal himself, but as long as he is setting them up then he is earning a starting position.
I must admit I slagged him off a lot in the past but now he is showing he deserves his place.
