If we have ambitions of winning this league then Clarke should be looking to prioritise signing a Central Midfielder who dictates the pace of the game and creates chances. I would say this area is the weakest area of our team at the moment and if we have real hopes of winning this League we need a better player than Ollie Clarke to do it. The problem we have with all our midfielders is IMO they are all OK but none of them are special and add class. They are all hard working but you need that certain quality in the midfield and none of ours possess it, don't get me wrong they are all capable players at this level and Mansell/Sinclair would be great either side of a quality player (quality at this standard) and this is the area that Clarke should be prioritising along with a striker who knows where the net is or it maybe that if he brought in a right winger and central midfielder that the strikers we have MIGHT actually be good enough.

What we really need and what we've really needed for years now is wingers on both sides. We've got plenty of central midfielders at the club but only one winger ( not including balata) which I find ridiculous considering we play 4-4-2 most weeks. All this talk about needing more strikers would calm down because our strikers would score more if we had more width, and by more width I don't mean Taylor running our wide to receive the ball. He needs to stay close to cunnington and if we had more width he could do that.

I agree on Clarke but last time I questioned him he went and had a really good game. Against... Forest Green!

It's hard to see how anyone can argue with this. At least i watch the same game as you steve.

Agree with this Steve - and this was very evident today - FGR's midfield better than ours - Mansell was fighting a lone battle - hardly noticed Ollie Clarke .

We need a decent playmaker and a striker who knows where the back of the net is. I like Taylor but he has had his chance and has missed far too many.

The rarest beast in football is the talented midfield playmaker. I don't think DC would need telling that we could do with one. He'd probably give us a clap if we said that to him.
However, what we did have plenty of today was... chances. All missed. Considering his job title, the one Taylor missed today, in front of the Blackthorn, after about an hour, was criminal. I could not believe it and, what's more, neither could he.

Clarke today reminded me of Eliot Richards in his prime. Stood ball watching most of the time and doing his best to avoid receiving the ball!
