Criticisms of City are quickly stamped on, but joke about how poor we are, and they'll say you're OK for a sag.
Can't see the point of posting on OTIB and disrespecting our club just so no nasty City fans will be mean to you. Seems a bit masochistic to me.

Why any Gashead would ever want to set foot on that page is beyond me.

Find it a bit pathetic myself. Each to their own and all that, but I barely find the time to write on here let alone another team’s chat. I’m not sure why anyone would want to try to bait them right now, given the club’s respective positions. Having a look at his posts, I don't think he is trying to bait them out. He's said openly that City have a far bigger support base and are a far bigger and better club than Rovers, and all of the ruckus has been about "Bodin" bringing up the possibility that Clarke could be their assistant manager (hence why he was at Ashton Gate). He seems to be purely speculating but I myself find it pretty laughable they seemed to get so offended by this statement, they can not want him but to claim he's apparently not good enough to be the assistant manager of a Championship club is laughable, especially since Appleton became assistant manager at a club who'd only a season before-hand won the Premier League. They dont have a far bigger fan base then us tho. They think they do but they dont. Its bigger right now granted, and they have tapped into more of there potential then we have ours given the Ashton gate rebuild and the money Pantdowns has spent over the past few years. But they forget that pre the championship days of Johnson snr that they were getting 9k,10k,11k each week for years in L1 apart for big games in a ground that even at the time was miles better than the mem and our 3 tents!. They have done nothing as a club apart from rub each other off for years that they have been above us and the gap.The gap has only been there due to our failings rather than there clubs growth until 2015/16 when they started to move on as a club.Which is fair play to them. If and when BCFC get into the premiership it will be the most annoying thing ever to happen to Bristol. Not for the loyal City fans that have followed them for years and should be rewarded and enjoy that success, but rather the Glory seeking plastics that will claim there loved to City and everthing bs3.

Well done icegas you’re probably right about the gap being more about our failure to grow rather than their successes. Mind you I wouldn’t think too many gasheads would say it would be annoying if 1982 got in the PL! 😉 Unfortunately when a club gets to the PL, lots of “plastics” will come out of the woodwork. I’ve seen that at Bournemouth. Back in the Championship and they will be back to 8k. UTG!

I think it’s interesting that City barely get a mention on here (other than this thread). Last week they were headline news when an individual racially abused a Wigan player on Twitter. Im not sure what would have happened on one turd if the boot was on the other foot and one of our lot did it, but I didn’t see a mention of it on here or anywhere else rovers related. I think there was an understanding that it was one idiot and not representative of the sh£t. Every club has them unfortunately

I think there was an understanding that it was one idiot and not representative of the sh£t. Every club has them unfortunately I don't think the Wigan incident was a City fan, rather a lad from Sheffield who had lost on his accumulator so decided to send racist abuse. There was an incident a few weeks ago where a City fan was taken to court for chanting at Wolves fans and calling them a derogatory term for someone who is of middle-eastern descent. His defence was "it's short for Pakistan, it's not racist". Anyway, the courthouse for some bizarre reason didn't give him a ban - luckily the club saw sense and did, as a young Asian family sat behind him were the ones to report it. Could you imagine the courts taking no action and then that bloke is back in front of you for the next game? Imo we have enough ammunition against each other for banter, and even the nastier back-and-forth, but racism doesn't really belong in that conversation and shouldn't be used to score points. Racism is a cancer in our society and has to be dealt with head on by both sides, rather than throwing a lot of "ooh you're more racist than we are!" about, as I've seen from both Gas and City on twitter and forums. You're 100% right russiagas in that every club has them, and we all need to work together to report them (if you hear it/see it/read it) like that young City family did.

Well if they did ban him then well done them.
As already said its a scurge on society and I applaud the actions taken by them and for sending a message to others..

IMO both sets of fans have enough to take the water out of each other and both clubs have more that their fair share of bellends
We did used to have that “oh yes” thread but it died a death
I think it’s sad we don’t let their fans on here. A few have passed through but just get banned when someone gets sand in their fanny about it. Fair enough kick them off if acting a twat but sure,y there must be some sensible ones!

I think this forum would be so much richer for the sensible, balanced opinions that you can get from the other side of the city. Was it 'Brislington Red' who used to post here? I always thought he/she had plenty of sensible stuff to add to the debate. It's good to get a different perspective. It will never happen as there are too many idiots on both sides. Christ, it boils over into stupidity and hostility as it is...it would inevitably be worse if City fans were involved. Shame though.

Let them obsess about Rovers.
I hope they go up as it will be a joy to watch them getting hammered every week.

I disagree. They do have a bigger fan base now than us and they are attracting the next generation of fans in their numbers, largely because kids can sit comfortably in a new stadium with great facilities alongside it. You say they have done nothing, but what are you expecting them to do? In the last 5 years they have won L1 at a canter, among with the tinpot trophy, established themselves in the championship (albeit after a squeaky bum season) and now are a top 6 championship side on a budget, which by championship terms isn’t the biggest. They also had magnificent cup runs last year which brought an even greater exposure to them. Say what you want but I would say that’s pretty good by any clubs standards especially when you consider what clubs are in that league and how they are faring. It’s about progression. True 10 years ago they were only getting 11-12k a week in L1, but some of that is the fickleness of football. I remember going to Leicester in L1 away and thinking their 18k attendance in the kingpower was terrible for a ex premier league team. 10 years later they were selling out in on their way to the premier league title. Not all of those fans watched us lose 2-1 to them that day. Lansdown has built the infrastructure around AG and now they can compete a little more. Yes the gap has been there largely down to us spending 15 years in the basement leagues but we also had the best chance to do the same as City with the UWE and didn’t take it, and we will pay for that decision now for the next 10 years regardless of whether we get a stadium built within the next 5. Let’s hope Wael has an ace card up his sleeve to drag us into the 21st century.

They’re holding their own and are settled in the championship, but there is no way on gods green earth they are a top 6 side in the general sense.
11th, 17th & 18th being their last three finishes.
