If we were to play the S**t in a preseason match would it be called a friendly? We did under Mark McGhee, and it was advertised as a friendly (except it wasn't very friendly and we picked up 2/3 big injuries) We also played them in a pre season friendly at home in 2005. We lost 1-0 and it was total chaos for trouble around the ground.

Well it used to be an annual Gloucestershire Cup fixture and I cant remember much trouble in those games.
IMO the longer the gap is between the two sides playing each other, the more intense it is when they meet, even for meaningless friendly games.
I'd love to have an annual friendly with them back again. Plod wouldn't be happy with us playing each other when its not necessary though.

Announce Walsall for a friendly at the Mem. Chance to give DC and Co a send-off He has had more than a send off already. Why praise someone who if he had not have been sacked would have taken us down?

Interesting if we play Bath City, now part of the Bristol Sport franchise it seems.
My support for them out the window

Does anyone ever head down to the wrong side of the tracks to watch visiting teams against Sh*tty (away end of course). Crystal Palace are heading there late July. I once went in the away end at Trashton to watch Wolves against them. It was the game where the mascots had a fight and Wolves thrashed them 6-1. Back in the day City were desperate for a full house in their crunch relegation clash against Reading to the point where they gave free tickets to local schools. I thought "I'll have a bit of that", just on the off chance the stars aligned. So, a day of good behaviour (no mean feat) later and I had bagged a ticket. I was sat in those wooden seats in the Williams(?) stand although I finished the game sat on my hands as (IIRC) Kurt Nogan scored a brace to condemn them to relegation. The pitch invasion and chants of "Sack the board" were the icing on the cake. So all in all, 10/10- great day out. Would go to a relegation decider there again.

Interesting if we play Bath City, now part of the Bristol Sport franchise it seems. My support for them out the window To be fair to Bath, they are a team owned by the fans on a tight budget, so if Lansdown has offered them a decent deal to manufacture their kits, you can hardly blame them for taking it. I look out for Bath's result and go to the occasional game when Rovers aren't playing and it's not something I'm too upset by. It would be a different story if Bristol Sport were to take them over but I don't think that's likely considering Bath City's long term goal is to reach the football league and this wouldn't be possible under Lansdown due to dual ownership rules.

Fair enough but you do realise you wont have to go?

Tuesday 9th July, Cadbury Heath v Bristol Rovers Youth (U18/U21), 7pm kick off at Springfield.
We're delighted to be hosting a Rovers team down at Cadbury Heath this pre-season! As we're deep in Rovers territory it would be great to see as many Rovers fans as possible come along to this game and support not only the Rovers youngsters but also put a few quid into a local non-league team. Its our 125th anniversary and we're hoping to get a decent gate in for this game to help increase our funds for some much needed ground improvements for Springfield.
Hopefully see a few of you on the 9th July!

Why praise someone who if he had not have been sacked would have taken us down? So would have Holloway but he always gets a good welcome at the Mem. Although good knows why you have such an apparent dislike for DC, whilst it all went Pete Tong in the end he still achieved more than most Rovers managers in our life times.

I don't have anything against either Holloway or Clarke, I just think that they are in our past we should be looking forward and supporting Coughlin. Clarke and Holloway are in our history, and that is where they should stay.
