Frome Town have confirmed a Rovers side will be visiting Badgers Hill on the 20th of July, so I thought I'd start a thread for confirmed Pre-Season matches.
Frome Town vs Bristol Rovers

Good idea. Looking forward to this pre-season. As BishopstonBRFC said in the Lockyer thread, it's our first non-DC pre-season since 2014 so it'll be interesting to see if we're still slow starters in the league again come September/October. Can't really remember the last time we had a solid start.
On the friendlies note, hoping for a few at the Mem rather than the standard 'play a load of local teams away from home before a game against Reading/Coventry/Exeter right before the season starts' malarkey.

I hope we play some decent sides this year. We always seem to play local sides which is great for fitness but I’m not sure it teaches us much other than that.

We've probably got the pitch to do it, this summer, unlike the last two summers.

Like Gas-Ed said below, hopefully we play some better teams to test ourselves as well as the local clubs for fitness purposes. Games against some local Championship teams would be ideal IMO - Birmingham/Villa, Reading, Cardiff. Plus the odd non-league team like YEOVIL HAHAHAHAHA.

Unlike others who thought it was a one-off I was taught all I needed to know about how our season would pan out after we got dicked by Exeter!

Problem is most Premier League sides and a lot of big championship clubs, go abroad now. Then they might play one or two games against lower division teams, that are not too far away from them. Even then they don't put out their first teams. So if we want competitive games, it will mainly be against league 2 sides, or lower.

Just checked the International Champions Cup and we've been left out again this year.

Does anyone ever head down to the wrong side of the tracks to watch visiting teams against Sh*tty (away end of course). Crystal Palace are heading there late July. I once went in the away end at Trashton to watch Wolves against them. It was the game where the mascots had a fight and Wolves thrashed them 6-1.

I used to go week in and week out to both clubs from the mid 70's to the mid 90's. Never paid over there, except when we played and always supported the away side there. I remember one weekend seeing us knocked out of the cup at home to Villa on a Friday night then watching them beat Derby on the Saturday afternoon, bad weekend.

If we were to play the S**t in a preseason match would it be called a friendly?

If we were to play the S**t in a preseason match would it be called a friendly? We did under Mark McGhee, and it was advertised as a friendly (except it wasn't very friendly and we picked up 2/3 big injuries)
