Not sure "heavily linked" to Clarke/Edwards was stated, more like there's a rumour from some obscure rumours website. I also think GC is just playing a game with Swindon re Bennett as it seems pretty clear he wants the 4 returning loan players to find new clubs this summer. Jakubiak seems an unlikely deal compared to Bonham's.
Surprised how heavily involved he seems to be in recruiting new players/discussing deals etc,GC not mentioning TW once during the interview.

Wants to play a high-pressing, high tempo style of football with pace on the wings and lots of crosses. That’s the bit that pleased me the most, tbh! So why release or not play D.L. He’s not a winger but his pace with a decent winger in front of him (bodin) and link up play was good excellent. Final ball not great but he was a defender who despite what people think, I thought he defended well.

No I'm saying we are, not him. Apologies if that wasn't construed correctly. Edwards in the Post and Clarke all over Twitter.

So that, coupled with his injury record and (if we're honest) unsuitability to L1, is probably why he was let go.

There's something about GC that just makes me uneasy as to our future under him. Maybe it's his playing style, I don't know. But I do think that my "fears" are irrelevant because the truth is GC has done nothing to prove he doesn't deserve a shot at managing us next season, with more of a handle on things, and with more time to prepare. I’m the same. I’m 100% behind him and want him and us to do well next season. But I’m also worried we won’t. Why’s this? Is it because we’re Rovers and we know cr** is just around the corner even if we can’t see it at the time? Style of play has been necessary even if it hasn’t been good. Only I don’t think the guy has said anything to make us worry has he? But socrates, any manager comes with no guarantee and at least with GC we know he can organise a team, get results and work well with a seriously unbalanced squad with no creativity. UTG!

Just listened to all of it - highly encouraging and very impressive the way Cogs comes across. Like him or not, like his football over the last six months or not but the geezer is stellar in press-related formats. Anyway, for those that haven't/won't get a chance to listen, tried to summarise the key points below. He also mentioned he's enjoying the role, it's stressful and he appreciates our support as fans. If I miss anything, holler. - Wants to play high-tempo, high-pressing football with pacy wide-men and lots of crossing (sounds promising as WeAreTheGas initially alluded to) - Linesy out of favour and couldn't guarantee him games (we've mentioned all this in the Lines thread) - Locks said he wanted to leave on a free a few months ago and they've been in dialogue since then but he couldn't convince him to stay (likewise, Lockyer thread) - Sincs was disillusioned by lack of games so left, Leadbitter worries his body is giving in to injuries - Mensah and Payne free to find new clubs, Bennett and Matthews likewise but those two are going to fight for their place over pre-season (all under contract another year) - Hasn't been approached by Plymouth and 'is contracted to Rovers' (sounds like he'd go if they came in and club were happy to release him but that's just my interpretation) - Staff size will be reduced as we have "too many members of staff on the books", he's already told those who will be leaving - He's currently in Sheffield (where he and his family live permanently) and he's been in to visit his mate Chris Wilder (Sheffield United) and Dean Smith (Villa) en route - Whilst up north he's meeting two players (one on a golfing trip) - One heavily linked (my words, not Cogs) to be Leon Clarke, who he said he hasn't spoken to, rates highly but thinks he'll stay in the Championship - Also heavily linked (my words, not Cogs) with Plymouth-released CB Ryan Edwards, said he's his ideal CB - heads, kicks, tackles (sounds very interested so definitely something there) - Already talking/making offers to players but doesn't expect much movement in May/June while players take holidays/deliberate over offers - He's made an offer to Bonham, isn't 100% he'll get him but he has "high hopes" - Wants two keepers, ideally Bonham and a backup with Alexis Jr the third choice - Hopes JC and Deon Moore will sign new deals this week, thinks Partington may go elsewhere though as he wants first-team football - Thinks Nichols will score next season. Told him not to worry about his price tag or previous record. Happy with his performances but wants him to have enough confidence to shoot more and sooner in the passages off play (also playing closer to goal and not so deep/wide) - Keeps going on about us finishing eighth in league (since he took over) and that's what he's aiming to use as an advertisement to potential new players - Huge fan of Kilgour, future captain in his eyes - Exploring a permanent deal for Jakubiak I wonder if he worked that out all by himself or took the easy option and looked at the thread I started on 5th May where I set it all out in a league table. Maybe I should have taken out a copywrite!!

Clarke is 34 but he could bag a few in league one. Might teach Nichols a thing or two also. Wages surely an issue and possibly geography. Surely we got to be looking for players that under 34. Not really a long term solution. A 34 year old with no club looking for one last contract is not the answer. Agree. Thought we’d moved away from that. Seem to remember some bad stuff at Swindon, though that was with di Caneo. UTG!

Must admit i was not really a fan of GC but having listened to the interview tonight i thought he came across very well sounded very genuine, and also done a fantastic job in keeping us up so fair play to him and lets hope he can improve us next season.

thought it was very good interview, sounds like he is well on top of recruitment process and agrees with most fans on areas to strengthen, have great confidence in him and look forward to next season with confirmed optimism(no that does not mean winning title by 10 points!)his league table an inspired motivational tool, well done Geof and Geof.

Seems to do the same thing what all other goalkeeping coaches do when I watch them before games. What is he supposed to do? do something other than kick the ball directly at them over and over again ? Are you a goal keeping coach looking for a job or something ?

Just look at the goals that Leon Clarke has scored in recent seasons for Sheff U in the Championship. Personally, I doubt that he would come to Rovers, but if he did, I can see Clarke and JCH ripping the division apart. A (somewhat controversial) name from Sheffield United that may be more realistic is Ched Evans. Another real handful and transfer listed by the Blades. The fee may be a barrier though. As GC indicated, JCH is going to get plenty of attention from defenders, but if we can get a powerful striker along side him, defences won't know what to do.

As what I can only presume is in response to the comments made tonight during the interview, GC's odds have now tumbled all the way down to 2/7. To go from evens down to 2/7 would suggest some serious money (For the market) has been placed on him in the last few hours right?
Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I didn't spot it.
