When was the last time we had a Player leave without knowing who they were joining? I guess Locks is lined up with a deal somewhere but seems odd to go without securing somewhere to go to.

- Under John Ward, was thrown into the deep end as LB and CM and even managed to score a couple of goals despite being 100% a CB Istr him playing at right wing at the beginning of 2013-14.

Think it’s a case that Locks has just said he won’t sign a new contract and wants / hopes to test himself somewhere new as he feels he’s stayed at us long enough.... He’s had a contract offer from us on the table since Xmas and I seem to recall GC saying that he hopes Locks doesn’t get any decent offers this summer and he comes back to us saying he’s changed his mind and wants to stay... Personally I think he’ll be in the Championship next season in a reasonable (but not a promotion chasing) team...

It’s a bit of a shame Danny Leadbitter wasn’t invited on the show Seems easy to over look and under appreciate? Similar to the thank you videos the other 3 got videos he only had a photograph posted Whatever you think of him he served the club well and always gave his best and I think it’s a bit of a shame he was treat differently He probably still played as many games as Sincs this season despite his injuries I seen him at the last game and a lot of fans were nice to him thanking him but it seems the club and now the local media don’t seem to acknowledge him,he came over as a genuine nice lad who only wanted to be on the pitch Personally I hope he finds a decent club despite his injury problems and maybe we’ll see him flying down the wing again at the Mem in different colours

I guess had he been loitering by the goal in the last minute against Daggers it could all have been different.

Of course not ,bodin and taylor could not be replaced with that money and with proper ambition brown and harrison would have stayed. You might be happy with the dreadful squad we have but im not. We spent good money on mickey evans i think but that hardly made up for cureton and roberts leaving did it? Mate this isn't a computer game. We're a lower league football club. We don't have endless resources. We're losing millions each year. Directly replacing the quality of Taylor and especially Bodin would have likely cost a considerable seven figure amount. It was never going to happen, nor is it realistic to think so. Brown and Harrison aren't IMO real upgrades on what we have now. Certainly the latter who was never ready for Championship football which has been evidenced. Well "mate" We had a really good team, now we have a very poor team in my view. Were going nowhere unless we have big investment, the sort of investment wael kept telling us was on its way in the form of a new ground,a top class training facility and a high category academy. Thats what he told everyone who cared to listen. You disagree with my view which is fine. "Mate"

If you were at work and a rival firm phoned you up and offered you promotion and 3x your salary, would you take it? Me Yes ASAP. If you were at work and you were middle management and every time a post came up you were over looked would you think? I will have to leave here because I can do better? Yes I would.
The days of anyone being loyal to their employers for years and years have gone, and if you think footballers have a shelf life of 16 years or so then the chance that they will move 2,3, or more times in their career.
Good Luck to Tom and as for Sincs, Lines, and the others, I hope they find somewhere to go, but it is time for them to leave us, a few in our squad were kept too long probably because Clarke didn't have any replacements up his sleeve, and those replacements that did come in weren't up to the job, (and still aren't)

The 16/17 team were very likeable but would have required a massive injection of funds to take to the next level, and would have probably resulted in us breaching FFP. Any lower league supporter expecting big investment on or off the pitch is always going to be disappointed though. The owners were guilty of poor communication and got a little carried away with the momentum following the takeover. They've clearly scaled back the training ground and academy plan due to financial limitations. Disappointing and frustrating but we've no entitlement to either.

"Mate" last summer City lost Flint, Bryan and Reid and spent less on new signings and yet had a stronger season, narrowly missing the playoffs. When we lost 3 key players we replaced them with 3 disasters - Nichols, Mensah and Payne !! Judging by GC's first 2 signings - he looks like he can pick up very good replacements. we'll see who he signs - Wouldn't be surprised if we finish top half even without our captain going ! UTG !

Sincs regularly got coated off on this forum, as did Chris Lines, as did....Tom Lockyer. Chris Lines is different class, always has been. Sincs was injury prone. Lockyer promises/ed so much, but he will never be a Steve Elliott whoever he plays for.... UTG
