Looks like football index won’t be sponsoring us next season. This imo is a good thing the whole football index thing looked like a massive pyramid scheme to me. Hopefully we get a a sponsor that is nothing to do with gambling

I quite like Football Index as a sponsor as it is quite high profile, but I understand the reservations as it is technically classed as gambling. I've used it as a bit of fun made a few quid from it this season.

Gambling sponsorship should be banned on football shirts.

Gambling sponsorship should be banned on football shirts. That counts DUREX out then

Have they said they won’t be sponsoring us or have the club said anything ?

However I do believe it’s time Martin Thatcher took his name from the stands to the shirts though. On one condition, ‘Thatchers’ (preferably in black) is emblazoned straight across the middle where the quarters meet. Not so high it’s almost written along the neck line. This is a 110% shirt ruiner.

Maybe just a big ol' "Santa's Grotto" slapped in the middle of the shirt for the next season.

I’m gonna be honest I would much rather the club stay away from any form of gambling. There are many people in the terraces with us struggling with addiction and yet we’ve got it plastered all over our shirts

I’m not sure but would guess gambling sites must account for at least a 1/3 of football shirt advertising. If it’s universally banned ok , if not we may miss out.

Always wanted Thatchers as a main sponsor!

I just think it's a shame we do it. Ten of the Twenty Premier League clubs this season were sponsored by betting firms and Seventeen of the Twenty Four Championship teams were. When over 60% of teams from the top two tiers of English football are sponsored by firms that if players use they could be banned from playing we have an issue. Personally with the damage it does to peoples lives I'd like to see it banned from adverts on shirts, around the pitch and on TV.

Bit OTT for me, where do you stop? banning alcohol drink sponsors...better still ban alcohol entirely from games as that also ruins lives?
