Embarrassing themselves again. Not surprised. We have fans embarrassing us on Twitter - suggesting that the same should be done to the John Ateyo statue. Low life knuckle draggers at every club, unfortunately. 100% agree with you. And the minute they actually go through with it I'd be giving them both barrels as well. Lets face it though, the teds have got form, and a lot of it.

I make a particular effort to avoid their forum as bad spelling & grammar annoy me, but thought I would check in to see what they are making of this... Have to be honest, I was actually quite shocked to see some of the comments! I mean even for that lot, the reaction to this has been pretty disgusting..
FAR more people saying things like 'Not that big a deal' and 'They should just clean it off and move on' (seriously!) than there are people condemning it.
Don't get me wrong, I know their fan base tend to reside in the absolute swamps of Bristol and I can't imagine there is much access to education in these war zones, but even so, I actually expected better of them. I would like to think should the shoe be on the other foot we would pretty much universally condemn this as the completely idiotic act that it is!
Just when you think that lot can't sink any lower they always seem to find a way to do so.. Quite impressive really!

They should all be birched, and as for the ones who defaced the Mem maybe some sort of community service...weed duty at the Colony, or Fox sh1t detail. Attachment Deleted

There can't be many things more dishonourable than defacing a war memorial can there? A suitable punishment would be sending the perpetrators off to war for a few years to see if they manage to gain some of the perspective they've clearly missed in their lives up until now. Was the memorial touched this time ? We are happy to knock the whole shebang down for money. Some wannabe tossers spraying up the stadium no big deal they've burnt our stands down before ffs. Don't give the wankers the publicity they clearly crave.

Stupid statement because you can guarantee someone will now try and retaliate. All that does is encourage an escalation and who knows where it would end - maybe arson again. They can afford to employ a hundred security guards every night but we can't.

They manage to implicitly blame rovers fans for thinking about retaliating, while denying the perpetrators were really city supporters, all in one headline.

Have the tw@ts sprayed the gates again? I don't know, I may have been jumping the gun, but you could argue that the entire site is a memorial. No you definitely could not argue that! We can't claim only the gates are a memorial when it suits our argument (selling the ground to Sainsburys) and then claim the whole thing is when it suits another argument in our favour! Lets not sink to such pettiness Gasheads! This has nothing to do with the memorial aspect of our ground.. But it does have everything to do with the fact that a few swamp dwellers actually had nothing to do with their Saturday evening but to make their way to the other side of the City to vandalise parts of our ground.. A ground it is worth bearing in mind we would all quite like to have knocked down anyway!!!!! Just so weird that we mean so little to them and yet things like this still happen? Weird.

Our club said this : "We'd like to remind our supporters that Rovers are a family club and we would not tolerate any form of retaliation." City themselves seem pretty sure it was some of theirs : "Bristol City Football Club are appalled to hear a minority of so-called City supporters have defaced the Memorial Stadium. "We do not condone this kind of behaviour and it is disappointing to see the good name of the majority of Bristol City supporters being dragged down by such mindless acts of vandalism. "We will assist Bristol Rovers and the police with any investigation that follows." sh**e paper but didn't read it the same way as you to be honest.

They could have worded it however they like, 'City morons vandalise Mem,' would have been a decent description. But they went with Bristol Rovers warn against revenge attacks after Memorial Stadium is vandalised by 'City supporters'

Just remember that they are desperate to sell papers (in a world where papers don’t sell). I bet they’d love a retaliation from Rovers ‘fans’ just to give them a good story (rather than having to trawl forums for gossip).

Tell the facts of what has happened first. Anything else can potentially come after.
