I'm just having the nightmare of the Tote and the Soul Crew, GHS and Valley Commandos all trampling the lawns at Badminton.............still that was from another era as well.

I love those old films. It's like watching tv and football from another galaxy.
Random crowd cheers dubbed on when nothing is happening. All the players look 47 years old. Footballing skills look like something from Eastville Park on a Sunday. Downtrodden poor working class fans look delighted just to have 5 minutes away from the factory. Hat sales must have been the dream career.
It's all so much better today when we have glorious HD coverage (for £30 a month), a magnificent display of sponsor logos enhancing the kit, every top side packed with the finest footballers from around the globe, fans feeling free to express themselves at matches however they want, and entrepreneurs able to sell designer casual clothing at a marvellous profit, since they bought it from Pakistan at $1 per item.

Jack Pitt and Josser Watling on view.Josser converted from left winger to full back by Bert Tann and made captain. When one of our players got a rollicking from the ref ,Josser intervened and told the ref to leave it out as our player was deaf!

I guess it was played at Badminton cos that was the Duke of Beaufort's home. My dad's home was Badminton but I never recall him telling me about this game

What I find amusing is there was a crowd of 11,000 and they made £750. Hope the dogs didn't sh** on the pitch at half time

Marvellous old film. Going much further back, I'm reading the newly-published definitive history at the mo, and Rovers have just won the Southern League in 1905. I'd give anything to be able to stand there and watch some of that football and hear the players and crowd. Fascinating.
I wonder how we'll look to viewers in 50 or 100 years.
