Rovers haven’t recruited a Non League striker since Matty Taylor, we really ought to give it a go more often considering the luck we’ve had in the past doing it with the likes of Hayles, Ellington, Agogo ect.

Let's see how he does first. He's moving up a lot of levels. Hope it works out for him though - always a good story - from non -league to league and ripping it up !

Played for Yeovil before, let go having played 9 games.
All the best to him, could be another Jamie Vardy story, one good season in league 1 and he could be off again.

Just goes to show how hit and miss it can be. At the time I thought Jamie White was an exciting prospect whereas I wasn’t convinced at all about Matty Taylor.

I've said it many times, but White should've really been signed when he was at Winchester as a third or fourth choice development player, not as a first choice here, after his spell at Salisbury where he picked up a couple of injuries and had put on weight. Was academy player of the year at Southampton and played in the Championship when he was about 17/18.

Brandon Goodship is one we may have missed out with. Released by Bournemouth so he joined Yeovil after a previous loan. Was/ is friends with Sam Matthews so that may not have worked in our favour but tbh we’ve no idea if our scouts have assessed him and think he’s not good enough, we just don’t know. Papers and local press in south Dorset been full about how prolific he is and a couple of friends who watch Weymouth say he’s a nice bloke as well. But being in the Southern Premier is 4 leagues away from League 1 so perhaps some thought it was too much of a gap. Shame really I doubt whether he would have cost too much. But I’m presuming that any player GC brings in will be in the first team, perhaps there’s no room for players who might not be first team and our existing players will fill in any gaps. UTG!

We may have been in for him as well, anyone confirm that?

We signed Bernard Mensah in the 17-18 season from Aldershot who were in the National League. Sometimes it works out and sometimes the player can't make the step up. I'm pretty sure we would have been aware of him, as a lot of other teams would have been. If he's gone to Southend it kinda tells me that they were the biggest club for him to choose from and therefore may not have been seen as good enough to take the chance on over other targets.

His name sounds quite "piratey", he would've fitted in well at the Gas 😁
