Ellis is a real handful, matured. Browner a very confident baller, safe pair of hands. Clarke-Salter will settle in L1, not a Championship player, will be broken by many Championship forwards. Good game this! Agreed, Clarke Salter had a nightmare in the U21 Euro championships this summer & hasn’t ever looked a championship standard centre back, for my money. As you say, Ellis is putting himself about brilliantly, mixing it up physically & leads the line well. I fancy him to get another in this game. & there we go.

Birmingham have fielded a very weakened and young team. You could argue any team with Clarke Salter at the back is weakened but I digress. They have looked short in every area and Ellis has been too much for them up top, his movement has been superb giving his strike partners decent space also. Nice to see him Back amongst the goals. You cannot dislike Ellis and he is badly missed.

He was clearly injured for most of last season at Ipswich - it seems odd to me they let him go without giving him another chance at this lower level where he proved himself previously.

Not watching it but not surprised a defence containing JCS has conceded 2 goals in first half. Ellis should have a field day against him. Whilst he was poor for us he played very well in the Eredivisie last season for Vitesse and was one of their standout players

It seems a strange move to basically swap Harrison for Norwood when he's untried at this level, although perhaps they needed the transfer fee to pay our final instalment.

That's a possibility, especially with Lambert saying he was not getting any of the money for Harrison .

Whilst he was poor for us he played very well in the Eredivisie last season for Vitesse and was one of their standout players I don't care what he looked like there or what other people think of him. I can only judge what I have seen of him, and I have seen enough of him to think he is overrated and won't make it at the top level or even championship as it appears. He wouldn't have made it in my first 11 whilst with us.

I really don't get what these top managers see in him. I feel like he's only in the championship on his name and where he is from.

Both brown and harrison were terrific players for rovers and great characters. I really miss them both.

I still remember the Facebook meltdown when DC gave Ellis a new contract. People on about sending their season tickets back because he was so crap. Proved them all wrong and DC right. Good luck to him.

Good luck to him. He gave us so many great Gas moments, that some too quickly forget. A Last minute penalty away to Oxford A first half hat trick & 4 goals against Northampton A quick fire double away to Northampton in a 6-0 win A vital Wembley goal to get us back in the Play Off Final Many late winners in front of the Thatchers End And one of the greatest goals I have ever seen with my own eyes at Halifax. Just a couple of examples there at the front of my mind.

Lee brown was one of my favourite players while he was here I could never understand why so many didn’t rate him that highly. Along with lines he created most of our scoring opportunities over the four good years we had under DC. Knows when to play the simple pass or go long, great crosser of the ball, great attitude and a thunderous shot, perhaps defending is his weakest link but he wasn’t exactly a poor defender. We really miss him , this new left back we’ve got Leahy has got a lot to live up to , and judging by the way he was dicking about at the backpool game and also switching off for their second it looks like we’re weaker down the left now, in ability and attitude.

Our captain shouldn't have been "dicking about" and giving the ball away easily on the edge of our box and then perhaps we wouldn't have conceded the 2nd goal where 5ft 10in Leahy was beaten in the air at the back post by 6ft 4in Gnanduillet.

Leahy wasn't beaten in the air, he chose not to meet the ball, and Gnanduillet had to stoop to get his head to it. A 5ft 4in player would have had a better chance of putting that away.

I've watched it again and you're not far off the mark, but the real error in that passage of play is Ollie Clarke carelessly giving the ball away on the edge of his own box.
