IMO both Browner & Ellis played really well, Clarke-Salter was not his best, although he had an excuse playing in what was a team light on much experience. Ellis looked leaner and fitter than l remember him, and will be an handful in Div 1.

Leahy wasn't beaten in the air, he chose not to meet the ball, and Gnanduillet had to stoop to get his head to it. A 5ft 4in player would have had a better chance of putting that away. I've watched it again and you're not far off the mark, but the real error in that passage of play is Ollie Clarke carelessly giving the ball away on the edge of his own box. The difference is Ollie Clarke had a good game otherwise. Leahy is as the Walsall fans told us, defensively poor.

I still remember the Facebook meltdown when DC gave Ellis a new contract. People on about sending their season tickets back because he was so crap. Proved them all wrong and DC right. Good luck to him. He gave us so many great Gas moments, that some too quickly forget. A Last minute penalty away to Oxford A first half hat trick & 4 goals against Northampton A quick fire double away to Northampton in a 6-0 win A vital Wembley goal to get us back in the Play Off Final Many late winners in front of the Thatchers End And one of the greatest goals I have ever seen with my own eyes at Halifax. Just a couple of examples there at the front of my mind. And don’t forget that goal against Rochdale at the Thatchers end when he cut inside from the wing and shot. Great goal in 12/13. UTG!

Good players who have bettered themselves. Who can blame them for that? Brown bettered himself........ umm I'd say so, yes. Portsmouth are a club challenging for promotion into the Championship. We are nowhere near that, nor are we likely to be for some considerable time. I also suspect that Pompey can pay more than us. That's also a reasonable definition of bettering yourself in a workplace scenario isn't it?

Sure Ellis will get warm reception should he play at the Mem, be interesting at the end of the game if that warmth will still be in evidence cos I am sure he wont be any shrinking violet and will roughen up our defence!!

On a similar note, last night as I was driving home I accidentally selected Radio Wiltshire and caught the end of the commentary of the Swindle v Chelski kids game and they weren’t very complimentary about Broadbent saying how he has slipped down the pecking order.

Agreed, Clarke Salter had a nightmare in the U21 Euro championships this summer & hasn’t ever looked a championship standard centre back, for my money. As you say, Ellis is putting himself about brilliantly, mixing it up physically & leads the line well. I fancy him to get another in this game. It's weird with JCS. I really don't get what these top managers see in him. I feel like he's only in the championship on his name and where he is from. I think you answered your own question there 👍👍
