Now i'm not GC out just yet of course, and we had a fantastic win today in which we completely dominated the game against 11 men. But I'm mainly talking about the abuse he received after the Coventry defeat. I think it's a common, shared thought by a lot of our fanbase that Coughlan won't last until Christmas (although not shared by me just yet), and I wanted to hear who people want to see replace him if he were to get sacked. For me, Ian Holloway is a big no. I feel like he would follow John Ward and Gerry Francis. Two mangers who had great success with us during their first periods, but during their second periods they were clearly on the way down, like I feel Holloway is too. He may potentially keep us up, but I don't feel like he'd be able to fully take the club forward.
Names I would want us to look at are Phil Parkinson (surely he's got to be available given the current situation at Bolton??) and Michael Flynn. Can't think of anyone else on the spot.

Merely a few hours after securing a first league win of the season, another Saturday and it could well make the world of difference to the confidence within the squad/club and our season well and truly under way. A very poor thread imo.

I understand your merely just looking at who would come in if it happened, and you did say that you don’t want him out, but threads like this after a win and after the abuse he has got and during the game last night ridiculously enough, are just a bit unneeded mate

Can we not enjoy our win last night? We have played 5 W2 L2 D1. Timing of this post is poor and sums up most things on here at the moment.

Is this thread for real ? our first win, seeds of recovery sown, promising front two partnership, really impressive at the back,, just need that spark in midfield to make us a very competitive side, which I am sure GC and the rest are scouring the available list every minute of the day, and all you can think of is GCs replacement! unbelievable and disrespectful!!

GC saved us when we almost needed snookers to avoid relegation, he is well aware that there is no creative spark in midfield, Bennett is inconsistent but a high earner allegedly so he needs to tweak the squad. As said the defence looks tidy with Little and THD to come back, and we have good back up strikers now, we are a workmanlike solid team that needs flair hoping there is some cash in the pot for a quality midfielder who will go straight into the side. We cannot afford to keep changing managers we have effectively two chairman FFS.

Stupid time to start this thread when if we beat Oxford on Saturday we could be around 10th in the table, but if you think Parkinson would be a good appointment just look at what Bolton fans have to say about his negative tactics. Plus why would either Flynn or him want to join a struggling Div 1 side anyway. If GC left most likely Joe Dunne would get the job anyway!

The fact i’m getting slated for this thread despite the fact I explain precisely why I made it is laughable. Where was all this defending of GC after the Coventry loss when everyone on here minus me and a few were screaming for GC’s head? And now you’re all defending him? Are you really that reactionary? This thread is a hypothetical scenario asking those people who screamed for his head who’d they want as his replacement. I’m not saying to get rid of him. It’s a what if scenario asking a large majority of our fanbase who have wanted GC out (I haven’t) who their ideal replacement would be

It was unbelievable and disrespectful people calling for Coughlan to “be on his boat back to Dublin” after 3 games into the season, 2 losses away against teams much better than us, and a draw at home against a team and in conditions where we were always going to struggle. It’s not unbelievable and disrespectful for someone who’s GC in to ask those who are GC out who their ideal replacements would be. There’s clearly a lot of them, unless they’ve changed their mind after one win. In which case that’s more embarrassing

At what point did I suggest GC should be given the freedom of Muller Road? We had performed well and won the match only a few hours before this thread was created. The timing as mentioned above, is bizarre to say the least. I’m also the furthest thing from ‘reactionary’, on this board. As you’ll notice in my post history. It’s a decent and much needed win to carry into another home game at the weekend, against a side that has just shipped 4 at home themselves. I’d like to think Manager replacements are the furthest thing from most of our supporters minds right now.

I am sure your intentions were innocent, but the timing of this thread was / is incredibly disrespectful.
I can't say I am the blokes biggest fan if I am blunt, but I would not dream of even begging to discuss his potential replacement a mere few hours after he has just secured our first 3 points of the season.
